Samsung has officially unveiled its first intelligent eyewear, expanding the Galaxy ecosystem beyond smartphones through AI-powered smart glasses developed in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
Introduced during Galaxy Unpacked in London, the new wearable combines Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem with Google’s Android XR platform and Gemini AI, delivering hands-free assistance in a lightweight design intended for everyday use.
Samsung brings Galaxy AI into smart eyewear
Samsung said the intelligent eyewear is designed to become a natural extension of daily life, allowing users to access AI-powered assistance without constantly looking at a smartphone.
The company said the device supports everyday activities including work, travel, navigation, communication, and productivity through contextual, hands-free interactions.
“Intelligent eyewear creates a new point of interaction, bringing more personalized AI assistance naturally into the moments that make up everyday life,” said Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) Business.
Built with Google Gemini and Android XR
The smart glasses are powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 Platform and run on Android XR, the mixed reality platform jointly developed by Google and Samsung.
Google Gemini serves as the primary AI assistant, allowing users to interact through voice and gesture controls while receiving real-time contextual information.
According to Samsung, the glasses support AI-powered experiences such as summarizing long messages, reading important information aloud, providing live language translation, offering navigation assistance, delivering visual recognition and contextual recommendations, capturing whiteboards and meeting notes directly into Samsung Notes, and sharing a live point-of-view video feed during calls.
The company added that the AI can understand context across multiple tasks, enabling users to continue previous conversations or activities with less repetition.
Designed for all-day comfort
Samsung emphasized that the new smart glasses were designed to resemble a pair of everyday eyewear rather than a bulky wearable device.
Key hardware features include a lightweight, slim-profile frame, a built-in camera, touch controls, up to nine hours of battery life, and a charging case capable of providing up to seven additional full charges.
The Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 Platform also handles AI processing, connectivity, power management, and thermal performance within the compact design.
Fashion meets technology
Rather than designing the frames entirely in-house, Samsung partnered with two established eyewear brands to create styles intended for everyday use.
The initial lineup includes the Gentle Monster Edition, which features a slim black frame with softly rounded edges for a contemporary look, and the Warby Parker Edition, which offers a brown frame with a subtly upswept brow line for a more classic everyday style.
According to Samsung, it worked closely with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to refine comfort around the forehead and ears while ensuring long-term durability and wearability.
AI beyond the smartphone
Samsung positioned the intelligent eyewear as the next evolution of Galaxy AI, complementing smartphones rather than replacing them.
According to the company, the glasses provide AI assistance directly within the user’s field of view, allowing them to stay engaged with people and surroundings while accessing relevant information when needed.
Google President of Android Ecosystem Sameer Samat said the partnership aims to bring “helpful and context-aware intelligence into everyday life,” with Gemini delivering real-time assistance through the Android XR platform.
Samsung has not yet announced pricing or release dates, but said additional details will be shared as the intelligent eyewear approaches launch.
