Acer is expanding its gaming handheld lineup with the Predator Atlas 7, a compact 7-inch device powered by Intel Arc G-Series hardware and designed to deliver high-end gaming performance without the bulk of a larger handheld.
The company also unveiled Project DualPlay Mini, a concept device that combines handheld gaming with laptop-style productivity in a convertible form factor.
Both devices were presented during Acer’s next@Acer global press conference in Berlin alongside the company’s broader IFA 2026 announcements.
Predator Atlas 7 packs flagship hardware into a smaller handheld
The Predator Atlas 7 (PA07-I51) is positioned as a more compact alternative to Acer’s recently launched 8-inch Predator Atlas 8.
It can be configured with up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics, paired with Windows 11 and an Xbox Game Pass subscription for access to hundreds of games.
Acer also gives the handheld up to an 80Wh battery, targeting longer gaming sessions while away from a power outlet.
Dual-fan cooling keeps the Atlas 7 running
Acer is putting considerable emphasis on the Atlas 7’s cooling system, which combines two fans with its Vortex Flow airflow design.
One is a precision-metal Predator AeroBlade fan with 89 blades, each measuring just 0.1mm thick. Acer says the fan can increase airflow by up to 10%.
A secondary plastic fan works alongside it, while angled internal channels direct hot air out of the chassis more efficiently during sustained workloads.
The system is designed to help the handheld maintain performance without sacrificing its portable form factor.
120Hz display and TMR controls target competitive gaming
The Predator Atlas 7 features a 7-inch FHD touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of peak brightness, and Variable Refresh Rate support. The 16:9 display uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC surface treatment for improved scratch resistance and reduced glare. It also supports 10-point multitouch.
For controls, Acer offers an optional tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) joystick configuration, designed to improve precision and reduce drift while eliminating dead zones.
The handheld also uses Hall-effect analog triggers, while its contoured grips, enlarged palm rest, recessed keys, and anti-slip texture are designed to provide a steadier grip during longer sessions.
Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7 round out the package
The Atlas 7 includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, allowing users to connect displays, docks, and other high-bandwidth accessories.
Storage can be expanded through a UHS-II microSD slot, while Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 provide wireless connectivity.
Acer’s PredatorSense software gives users access to performance modes, system monitoring, RGB lighting controls, and other gaming settings.
For audio, the device has dual 2W speakers with DTS:X Ultra and dual microphones with Acer PurifiedVoice for AI-assisted noise reduction.
A fingerprint reader built into the power button also supports Windows Hello for quicker Windows login.
Project DualPlay Mini turns a handheld into a mini laptop
Alongside the Atlas 7, Acer showed Project DualPlay Mini, an 8-inch Predator concept that explores a different direction for handheld gaming. Its flip-and-swivel design allows the device to transition between a traditional handheld configuration and a mini-laptop layout.
A built-in backlit physical keyboard gives players a laptop-style control scheme for genres such as first-person shooters, while the handheld configuration provides more conventional console-style controls. The concept can also connect to an external display for mobile productivity, allowing it to function as a compact work device rather than a gaming-only machine.
The concept uses an Intel platform and a dual-fan cooling architecture similar to the Predator Atlas 8, including a Predator AeroBlade metal fan and a secondary plastic fan.
Acer also incorporated a Morse Code detail spelling “Acer 50 since 1976” into the back cover to mark the company’s 50th anniversary.
Atlas 7 launches later this year
The Predator Atlas 7 is scheduled to become available in North America in Q4 2026 and EMEA in November 2026. Acer has yet to announce pricing. The previously announced Predator Atlas 8 is set to arrive in North America and EMEA in September 2026. Meanwhile, Project DualPlay Mini remains a concept device with no announced commercial release.
With the Atlas 7, Acer is betting that gaming handhelds can deliver flagship-level hardware in a smaller package, while Project DualPlay Mini explores whether the same form factor can stretch beyond gaming into everyday mobile productivity.
