LG Electronics is showcasing its 2026 AI TV lineup at IFA 2026, combining the new α11 AI Processor Gen3 with personalized viewing features and a multi-layered security system designed to protect users and their data.
The lineup, on display at Messe Berlin from September 4 to 8, expands LG’s push to make AI a more integral part of the TV experience. Beyond improving picture and sound quality, the company is using AI to personalize content recommendations, simplify troubleshooting, and adapt the TV to individual users.
α11 AI Processor Gen3 powers LG’s latest AI TVs
At the center of LG’s 2026 AI TV lineup is the α11 AI Processor Gen3, which brings faster video processing and upgraded CPU, GPU, and NPU performance.
LG says the processor delivers a 5.6-fold improvement in NPU performance compared with its previous generation. It also powers features such as AI Dual 4K Upscaling, which combines two AI processing methods to improve lower-resolution content.
For audio, AI Sound Pro can process sound into a virtual 11.1.2-channel configuration, aiming to create a more immersive audio experience from compatible content.
The processor was first introduced to LG’s 2026 OLED evo lineup and is now being extended to the company’s ultra-large Micro RGB evo TVs.
The α11 AI Processor also received recognition from Tom’s Guide at its AI Awards 2026, particularly for its ability to improve image quality and reduce visible color banding.
AI to personalize the TV experience
LG is also moving AI beyond image processing with features designed to make webOS more responsive to individual users.
One of these is Voice ID, which can recognize a user’s voice and automatically switch to their personal profile. The system can then use viewing history and preferences to provide more relevant content recommendations.
For example, users can ask the TV for movie recommendations and receive suggestions based on their established viewing preferences rather than generic recommendations.
The 2026 lineup also introduces AI-powered tools for troubleshooting and content discovery, including AI Chatbot, which understands natural-language descriptions of TV problems and provides instructions for resolving them; AI Concierge, which uses viewing habits to recommend content, search terms, and relevant TV features; and Voice ID, which identifies individual users and connects them to personalized profiles and recommendations.
AI Concierge can be accessed through the AI button on the remote, with recommendations presented as cards without requiring users to leave their current viewing experience.
LG Shield adds seven layers of security
As TVs become more connected and personalized, LG is also putting greater emphasis on protecting the information generated by those features.
LG’s LG Shield security system is integrated into webOS and uses seven core security technologies covering different parts of the TV’s software and data infrastructure. These include secure algorithms, secure data storage, secure data transmission, user authentication, software integrity assurance, secure updates, and security event detection.
The system is designed to protect against risks including unauthorized access, data leakage, and malicious software or system modifications.
LG Shield was also recognized as a CES 2026 Innovation Awards honoree in the Cybersecurity category.
LG promises longer software support for AI TVs
LG is extending the lifespan of its AI TV platform through software updates, with the 2026 lineup receiving up to five years of complimentary webOS upgrades.
That approach is increasingly relevant as smart TVs evolve from simple display devices into connected platforms running apps, personalized services, and AI-powered features.
Longer software support also allows LG to introduce new capabilities after customers purchase their TVs, rather than limiting the device to the features available at launch.
LG will demonstrate its 2026 AI TV lineup at Hall 18 of Messe Berlin during IFA 2026, running from September 4 to 8.
The company’s latest TVs combine AI-powered image and sound processing with personalized content discovery, voice recognition, troubleshooting tools, and security features.
With the α11 AI Processor Gen3 handling much of the processing and LG Shield providing security across webOS, LG’s 2026 lineup reflects how TV manufacturers are increasingly treating AI as part of the overall smart TV platform rather than simply a picture-enhancement feature.
