GAC turns driving frustrations into PBA, UAAP fan challenge

GAC Philippines is bringing the everyday frustrations of Filipino drivers to the basketball arena through Front Seat Faces, an interactive fan challenge rolling out during UAAP Season 89 and the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Part of the automaker’s “Go Above Competition” campaign with Cignal TV and TV5, the activation invites selected fans to act out exaggerated reactions to familiar situations, from getting caught picking their nose at a stoplight to realizing they forgot their laptop before an important presentation.

Fans take center court during game breaks

Front Seat Faces takes place during timeouts and quarter breaks, with hosts presenting driving-related scenarios for fan representatives from competing teams to perform.

The prompts range from spotting a favorite basketball player on the sidewalk to spilling hot coffee on a white shirt on the way to work. Other scenarios include discovering that a work meeting is not on mute while attending from a car and hearing a radio program announce a vehicle plate number as a promo winner.

The challenge puts the fans’ expressions and improvisation skills on display, with participants competing for arena bragging rights and prizes from GAC Philippines.

By using situations familiar to commuters and motorists, the activation adds a lighter, interactive element to game breaks while giving spectators another way to participate beyond cheering for their teams.

GAC showcases its vehicle lineup at games

Alongside the fan challenge, GAC Philippines is displaying vehicles at venues hosting UAAP and PBA games throughout the season.

The featured lineup includes the AION UT, an all-electric hatchback aimed at urban drivers, and the GN8 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid MPV positioned for families and group travel.

Other models scheduled for display include the AION V, E8 HEV, GS4 Max HEV, All-New GN6 and 2026 Emzoom. Attendees can view the vehicles up close, explore their interiors and check out their features.

“Sports isn’t just about intense competition on the hardwood, it is also about bringing fans together and sharing memorable, joy-filled moments,” said Calvin Cheng, president of GAC Philippines. “Through Front Seat Faces, we want to bring a lighter, playful twist to game day while showcasing how GAC vehicles fit seamlessly into every aspect of daily life.”

Expanding its sports partnership

Front Seat Faces is part of GAC Philippines’ broader partnership with Cignal TV and TV5, which spans the PBA, the Premier Volleyball League and the UAAP.

The “Go Above Competition” campaign connects the brand’s sports activations with its message of innovation and performance, using live games and fan engagement to introduce its vehicles to sports audiences.
