CreaZion Studios Brings A24’s ‘BACKROOMS’ to Philippine Cinemas On June 3
Filipino horror fans can mark their calendars as CreaZion Studios confirms that A24’s highly anticipated sci-fi horror film BACKROOMS will premiere in Philippine cinemas on June 3.
The distributor has unveiled the film’s local release date alongside its first official poster and teaser, giving audiences a chilling preview of what to expect from the big-screen adaptation of the viral internet legend.
From Viral Series to A24 Feature Film
Produced by A24 in partnership with Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps Entertainment, BACKROOMS marks the feature directorial debut of Kane Parsons.
Parsons, now 20, first gained global attention through his YouTube web series inspired by the “Backrooms” Creepypasta mythos — a surreal horror concept centered on endless, empty yellow hallways existing outside reality. His original videos amassed nearly 100 million views and helped popularize the unsettling liminal-space aesthetic across platforms.
The concept has since expanded into multiple adaptations, including video games on platforms such as Steam and Roblox.
Star-Studded Cast
The film stars Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World).
They are joined by Mark Duplass (The Morning Show), Finn Bennett (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Lukita Maxwell (Shrinking), Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap), Chelah Horsdal (Hell on Wheels), and Toby Hargrave (Superman & Lois).
A Teaser Into the Unknown
The newly released teaser opens inside a seemingly ordinary furniture showroom before revealing a strange doorway hidden in the basement. What follows is a descent into a distorted realm where time fractures and space bends, echoing the unsettling atmosphere that made the original web series a viral hit.
Meanwhile, the first official poster leans into the familiar yellowish wallpaper motif synonymous with the Backrooms lore — instantly recognizable to long-time fans of the online phenomenon.

BACKROOMS is the latest international title under CreaZion Studios’ #KwentoMoTo campaign, an initiative focused on bringing compelling human stories and cinematic experiences to Filipino and Southeast Asian audiences.
