Marvel is bringing Vision back to Disney+ with VisionQuest, an upcoming original series that will conclude the television trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along.
Marvel Television revealed a first look at the series during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, with Paul Bettany and James Spader joining Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige onstage. VisionQuest is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.
Vision goes into hiding in VisionQuest
VisionQuest follows Vision after his reboot, as he attempts to escape those looking to weaponize him.
While hiding, Vision searches for a new sense of purpose and turns to the artificial intelligence personas embedded within his programming. Among them are F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron, the latter returning with James Spader reprising the role.
Vision’s attempt at a quiet existence ends when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing him back on the run.
Vision meets a mysterious boy
During his escape, Vision becomes involved with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious young boy who may be connected to him as his son or reincarnate.
The relationship adds another mystery to Vision’s journey as he tries to determine Thomas’ identity while avoiding those hunting him.
At the same time, Vision must confront his own nature and deal with Ultron’s influence, creating a conflict between his search for identity and the artificial intelligence that helped shape his existence.
Paul Bettany and James Spader return
Paul Bettany reprises his role as Vision, continuing a character arc that began with Avengers: Age of Ultron before expanding through WandaVision.
James Spader also returns as Ultron, bringing the villain back into Vision’s story after his last major appearance in the MCU came in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The cast also includes Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Emily Hampshire, and James D’Arcy.
VisionQuest completes Marvel’s Disney+ trilogy
Marvel positions VisionQuest as the conclusion to a trilogy of series centered on the supernatural and reality-bending corners of the MCU.
The storyline began with WandaVision in 2021, which explored Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s altered reality following the events of Avengers: Endgame. It continued with Agatha All Along in 2024, shifting the focus to Agatha Harkness. With VisionQuest, the story returns to Vision while introducing a new conflict involving his identity, Ultron, and Thomas Shepard.
The series is created for television by Terry Matalas, based on Marvel Comics. Matalas also serves as an executive producer alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Jac Schaeffer, and Christopher J. Byrne.
VisionQuest will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.
