Esports World Cup 2026 Kicks Off Global Qualification Season
The Esports World Cup Foundation has officially launched the Road to EWC 2026, a global qualification program connecting over 230 tournaments across major esports regions and competitive tiers.
The program will culminate at the upcoming Esports World Cup 2026 in Riyadh, which will run from July 6 to August 23.
The road to Riyadh
The Road to EWC unifies publisher-led leagues, international events, and grassroots qualifiers into a single season-long calendar. It provides clear pathways for players and Clubs to earn a spot at the EWC, while giving fans a year-round, structured esports schedule to follow.
The initiative is designed to support competitive integrity, long-term investment, and sustainable growth in global esports.
Faisal Bin Homran, EWCF Chief Product Officer, said the program offers predictability and structure for the industry.
“By creating a defined qualification season, it gives the whole industry the confidence to plan; players can focus on performance, Clubs can commit resources earlier, publishers can align their ecosystems, and fans know when and where the biggest moments will happen,” Bin Homran said.
The Road to EWC integrates official circuits and premier tournaments as qualification pathways, including titles such as Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Chess.com, CROSSFIRE, Dota 2, EA Sports FC, Fatal Fury, Fortnite, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Overwatch 2, PUBG, Rocket League, TEKKEN 8, Trackmania, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Teamfight Tactics, and VALORANT. Open qualifiers and community competitions will also provide accessible routes for grassroots players.
Follow the journey to victory
Fans will be able to follow the unified Road to EWC calendar through a dedicated hub on esportsworldcup.com, featuring event dates, locations, formats, live streams, VODs, and exclusive content including pro player interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage.
In 2025, more than 2,500 players from over 100 countries and 200 Clubs qualified through the Road to EWC. Highlights included a 15-year-old Free Fire champion, EA FC titleholder Manuel “ManuBachoore” Bachoore, and Street Fighter legend Zeng “Xiao Hai” Zhuojun. Team Falcons secured their second Club Championship after qualifying through the Last Chance Qualifier.
