Aurora Gaming finally entered the win column in MPL Philippines Season 18 after sweeping Twisted Minds PH 2-0 to open Week 3 at Victoria Sports Tower.
The M7 World Champions snapped a three-match losing streak that saw them win just one of their previous seven maps. Meanwhile, ONIC Philippines remained unbeaten after overcoming TNC Pro Team in a three-game thriller.
Aurora Gaming snaps losing streak
Aurora Gaming wasted little time against Twisted Minds, taking Game 1 in nearly 17 minutes behind a strong performance from Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo.
The veteran EXP laner finished with two kills and nine assists on Uranus while absorbing a game-high 150,000 damage. His frontline presence created enough space for Kyle “Koyl” Reyes and Jan Dominic “Domengkite” del Mundo to take over the damage output.
Koyl posted a 5/1/6 KDA on Paquito, while Domengkite finished 2/0/4 on Clint as Aurora steadily pulled away from the Northern Lights.
The second game was even more decisive.
Aurora shut out Twisted Minds 8-0 in less than 10 minutes, with Koyl once again leading the charge on Paquito with a flawless 4/0/3 performance.
Dylan “Light” Catipon also played a major role in the sweep, assisting in all eight Aurora kills with Rafaela. Nathzz’s Belerick and Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo’s Pharsa further disrupted Twisted Minds, who failed to secure a single major objective throughout the game.
The victory improved Aurora to 1-3 in match wins and 3-6 in maps, temporarily moving them into sixth place. Twisted Minds dropped to 0-4 with a 1-8 map record, remaining at the bottom of the standings.
ONIC keeps perfect record intact
Contenders ONIC Philippines, meanwhile, continued its dominant start to MPL PH Season 18 with a 2-1 victory over TNC Pro Team.
TNC took the opening game behind Zehnder “Zehn” Fabugais, who delivered an MVP performance on Badang with a 0/3/8 KDA. His presence caught ONIC off guard and helped the Phoenixes secure the early advantage despite a strong showing from King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez.
ONIC responded by taking control of the series in the final two games.
K1NGKONG’s Hirara became a major factor in Game 2 as the Super Family forced the series into a decider. Frince Miguel “SuperFrince” Ramirez then stepped up in Game 3 to complete the reverse sweep in dominant fashion.
The result gave ONIC its fifth consecutive match victory, keeping the Super Family unbeaten in MPL PH Season 18.
