Team Liquid PH and ONIC Philippines continued their winning form in MPL Philippines Season 18 as both teams opened Week 2 with convincing victories at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.
The Cavalry swept AP.Bren in a dominant showing, while the Super Family handled Twisted Minds PH, 2-0, to extend its perfect record to three series wins.
TLPH cruises past AP.Bren
Team Liquid PH needed just over 11 minutes to take Game 1 against AP.Bren, putting together a 17-2 kill advantage in a one-sided opening game.
Veteran roamer Jaypee “Jaypee” dela Cruz controlled the map on Minotaur, finishing with a game-high 15 assists while repeatedly setting up Liquid’s damage dealers and sustaining the team’s core heroes.
Jaypee delivered the decisive play near AP.Bren’s bottom inhibitor turret around the 10-minute mark, landing a game-sealing ultimate that allowed Dave “Teddy” Viana and Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno to clean up the remaining defenders.
AP.Bren showed more resistance in Game 2, but KarlTzy once again proved difficult to contain.
The veteran jungler led Liquid to a 17-minute victory on Hirara, finishing with six kills and five assists. He repeatedly found AP.Bren’s backline during team fights, including key takedowns on John Marl “JMPINKMAN” Sebastian’s Barats and Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan’s Valentina.
Jaypee’s Belerick provided the setup for several of those engagements as Liquid completed the sweep.
The victory moves TLPH to 2-1 in the standings after recovering from its opening-day loss to Team Falcons PH.
ONIC PH keeps perfect record intact
ONIC Philippines took a more methodical approach against Twisted Minds PH, winning Game 1 in 17 minutes despite the two teams combining for only 10 kills.
Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto spearheaded the Super Family’s offense with Claude, finishing with two kills and six assists. His damage became increasingly important as ONIC patiently waited for its late-game power spike. Czedrick “SUPERYOSHI” Romero also continued his strong start to Season 18, posting a 2/0/6 KDA on Mathilda while providing the necessary support around ONIC’s carries.
The Super Family closed out the opening game without allowing Twisted Minds to generate enough momentum for a comeback.
SUPERYOSHI remained central to ONIC’s Game 2 victory, earning MVP honors after finishing 1/1/6 on Chou. Rather than relying on constant skirmishes, ONIC slowly dismantled Twisted Minds through its macro play, taking towers and securing objectives before forcing extended team fights.
K1NGKONG’s Hirara eventually became the primary damage threat, finishing with four kills and five assists, while Frince “SuperFrince” Ramirez contributed a 2/0/7 performance on Novaria.
ONIC closed the game in under 15 minutes to complete another 2-0 sweep.
The result extends the Super Family’s winning streak to three series and six consecutive games, leaving them with a perfect 6-0 game record.
ONIC PH will face Smart Omega on Sunday, while Twisted Minds PH will look to end its losing run against Team Falcons PH. Team Liquid PH, meanwhile, returns Saturday against Aurora Gaming, with AP.Bren facing TNC Pro Team.
