HUAWEI is bringing its latest flagship smartphone lineup to the Philippines next month with the launch of the Pura 90s Series, introducing upgraded mobile photography, 5G connectivity, AI-powered features, and improved durability.
Scheduled to debut locally on August 20, the new lineup continues the evolution of the company’s flagship photography-focused smartphones, combining new camera hardware with AI-assisted imaging and productivity features.
HUAWEI builds on the Pura Series’ imaging legacy
Formerly known as the P Series, Huawei’s flagship smartphone lineup has long focused on mobile photography. Previous generations introduced features such as Night Mode, periscope zoom cameras, Ultra Lighting Telephoto systems, and the Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera.
The Huawei Pura 90s Series builds on that foundation with upgraded hardware designed for telephoto photography, HDR imaging, and AI-assisted shooting.
Leading the lineup is the Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max, which features a 200MP Ultra Large Sensor Telephoto Camera, a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor, 20x telephoto zoom, CIPA 7.0 image stabilization, a 50MP Ultra Lighting HDR Camera, and a second-generation True-to-Colour Camera.
According to Huawei, the new imaging system is designed to improve long-range photography, low-light performance, dynamic range, and color accuracy across a variety of shooting scenarios.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Pura 90s Pro is equipped with a 50MP Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera capable of focusing as close as five centimeters for macro photography.
AI photography adds smarter composition and editing
Alongside the hardware upgrades, Huawei is introducing new AI-powered photography tools designed to simplify image capture and editing.
Among the additions are AI Composition, which provides framing suggestions based on scene analysis, AI De-Glare, which removes reflections from glass and other reflective surfaces, and AI Move, which allows users to reposition or resize subjects during photo editing.
According to Huawei, these features further its push toward computational photography by combining AI-powered image processing with the upgraded camera system.
5G connectivity and smarter everyday features
Beyond its camera upgrades, the Huawei Pura 90s Series introduces 5G connectivity, enabling faster downloads, uploads, streaming, and online gaming while improving signal recovery in areas with weaker network coverage.
The lineup also features an upgraded version of Celia AI, Huawei‘s virtual assistant, which supports voice commands for everyday tasks, calls, scheduling, and transportation services.
For durability, the Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max is protected by Anti-Reflective Scratch-Resistant Kunlun Glass. Battery features include a 6,000mAh battery, 100W HUAWEI SuperCharge, and 60W wireless SuperCharge.
According to Huawei, these specifications are designed to deliver longer usage sessions while reducing charging time.
Philippine launch begins with pre-order promotions
Customers can reserve the device by placing a PHP 500 deposit through the HUAWEI Online Store from July 30 until 8:00 p.m. on August 7, unlocking discounts of up to PHP 4,000 upon completing payment between August 7 and August 20. HUAWEI is also offering PHP 2,000 vouchers on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop starting July 30.
Alongside the smartphone launch, HUAWEI continues accepting entries for the XMAGE Awards 2026, where participants can submit smartphone photography for a chance to win the competition’s USD 10,000 grand prize before the August 16 deadline.
