Max Verstappen is taking on an unusual grid at Silverstone: 100 drivers at once in “Max vs 100,” a new live motorsport event coming to Disney+ Philippines at 12:00 a.m. on September 17.
Created by Disney+ and Red Bull, the event will see the four-time Formula 1 World Champion attempt to fight through a field of 100 competitors in a purpose-built karting circuit at the iconic British track.
The lineup brings together Red Bull athletes, esports and gaming personalities, streamers, content creators, media figures, and fans from around the world.
Verstappen goes back to his karting roots
“Max vs 100” takes inspiration from the format that shaped Verstappen’s early racing career: starting at the back and overtaking his way through the field.
This time, however, the challenge is significantly larger, with 100 competitors occupying the grid ahead of him.
For Verstappen, the event also marks a return to karting, the discipline where he developed the racecraft that eventually took him to Formula 1 championships.
“In go-karts you learn all the basics: starts, defending, overtaking,” Verstappen said. “I’ve done so many years in go-karting that you quite naturally get back into things.”
100 drivers from sports, gaming, and entertainment
The 100 competitors will come from different parts of sports and online entertainment.
The grid includes Red Bull athletes such as ultrarunner Arda Saatçi, basketball shooting specialist Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews, and freestyle mountain biker Matt Jones.
Gaming and streaming personalities including TheGrefg, Caedrel, and TheDonato will also take part, alongside creators, media personalities, and other invited competitors.
The format puts Verstappen’s racing ability against an intentionally unpredictable field, creating a race where sheer numbers could make overtaking considerably more difficult.
Silverstone gets a new 101-kart circuit
The event will take place at Silverstone, but the circuit used for “Max vs 100” has been specifically built for the challenge.
Race director and French racing driver David Terrien, a former youth karting world champion and kart designer, designed the circuit to accommodate 101 karts simultaneously.
That setup allows the event to stage its unusual one-versus-100 format on a single grid.
Live broadcast adds game-style presentation
“Max vs 100” will also use a broadcast format designed to make the race easier to follow despite the unusually large field.
The production, handled by sports and entertainment company Whisper, will combine live race data, on-screen insights, game-inspired graphics, and cinematic drone footage.
One of the event’s more unusual elements will see Verstappen communicate directly with competitors during the race, giving viewers access to conversations that could influence what happens on track.
British comedian Mo Gilligan, a three-time BAFTA winner, will lead the live broadcast alongside the event’s wider presenting and commentary team.

For Filipino viewers, “Max vs 100” will stream live on Disney+ Philippines at 12:00 a.m. on September 17.
The event represents another move by Disney+ into live sports and entertainment programming, while giving Red Bull another way to bring motorsport to audiences outside the traditional Formula 1 race weekend.
For Verstappen, meanwhile, the challenge returns him to the karts that formed the foundation of his racing career—only this time with 100 drivers standing between him and the finish.
