The electric vehicle market in the Philippines continues to expand as GAC International Philippines officially launches the GAC AION UT, a compact electric hatchback designed to combine urban practicality, interior space, and advanced EV technology.
Positioned as an affordable entry into electric mobility, the AION UT arrives with an introductory price of PHP 998,000, placing it among the more accessible fully electric vehicles currently available in the local market.
AION UT Focuses on Space Efficiency and Practicality
At the heart of the AION UT is GAC’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” development philosophy, which prioritizes passenger space and usability while minimizing the vehicle’s mechanical footprint.
Despite its compact hatchback dimensions, the AION UT features a class-leading 2,750mm wheelbase, allowing GAC engineers to maximize cabin space typically associated with larger crossover and SUV models.
The design aims to address the needs of urban drivers while providing enough flexibility for family use, daily commuting, and longer trips.

According to GAC, the spacious interior can comfortably accommodate passengers up to two meters tall while offering multiple storage solutions throughout the cabin.
Former Toyota Executive Helped Shape Development
The project received guidance from Masato Katsumata, Chief Technological Officer of GAC International and a veteran automotive engineer who spent decades at Toyota.
Katsumata previously played a key role in the development of several Toyota models, including the current-generation Toyota Camry.
His involvement in the AION UT focused on ensuring the vehicle delivered practical functionality and a human-centered ownership experience rather than relying solely on technology-driven design trends.
The vehicle itself was developed by GAC’s product development team, with Katsumata serving as a technical advisor throughout the project.
Safety and EV Technology Take Center Stage
The GAC AION UT arrives with a comprehensive suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies designed to improve everyday driving confidence.
Key safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), a 360-Degree Surround View Camera, Drive-off Assist, and Reverse Mis-Acceleration Mitigation.
The vehicle also utilizes GAC’s proprietary Magazine Battery technology, which the company says enhances thermal management, waterproofing, and overall battery safety.
This battery system is paired with a high-strength steel body structure and multiple airbags to provide additional occupant protection, reflecting the growing emphasis on safety as electric vehicles become more mainstream.
Up to 500km Range and Fast Charging Support

Range remains one of the biggest considerations for prospective EV buyers, and the GAC AION UT is positioned as a practical daily driver capable of handling both urban commutes and longer trips.
GAC claims the vehicle can deliver approximately 400km to 500km of driving range on a full charge. When connected to compatible fast-charging infrastructure, the battery can recharge from 30% to 80% in around 24 minutes.
Additional efficiency measures include advanced NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) insulation, low rolling resistance tires, and optimized energy management systems.
Together, these technologies are designed to maximize driving range while maintaining ride comfort, addressing two of the most important factors for consumers considering a transition to electric mobility.
Pricing, Colors, and Availability
The GAC AION UT carries a suggested retail price of ₱1,068,000. However, GAC Philippines is offering an introductory discount of ₱50,000 until June 30, 2026, bringing the price down to ₱998,000. An additional ₱20,000 promotional discount is also available for the first 400 customers.
Available exterior colors include Champs-Elysees Beige, Emerald Green, Rococo White, Seine Silver, and a two-tone Rococo White with Emerald Green roof. The interior features a black color scheme paired with a matching black headliner.
Reservations for the GAC AION UT are now open through GAC dealerships nationwide.
GAC Expands Its EV Presence in the Philippines
The launch of the AION UT further strengthens GAC’s growing electric vehicle lineup in the Philippines as competition intensifies among Chinese automotive brands entering the local EV market.
With a sub-PHP 1 million introductory price, long-range capability, fast charging support, and an extensive suite of driver-assistance features, the AION UT targets first-time EV buyers seeking a practical alternative to traditional gasoline-powered hatchbacks and compact crossovers.
The vehicle is backed by GAC Philippines’ nationwide dealership network, which currently consists of 30 locations, alongside EV-specific warranty coverage of up to eight years for the battery and core electric drive systems.
