GAC Philippines Unveils GS8 HEV, Expands Lineup at MIAS 2026

GAC Motor Philippines doubles down on electrified mobility, headlined by the launch of the GS8 HEV at the Manila International Auto Show 2026.

Alongside the flagship hybrid SUV, the brand showcased a broader new energy vehicle (NEV) lineup, signaling a stronger push into hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and full EVs in the Philippines.

The move reflects a growing industry shift toward electrification, as more automakers expand hybrid and EV offerings amid rising demand for fuel-efficient and sustainable mobility.

GS8 HEV leads GAC’s hybrid SUV push

The GAC GS8 HEV anchors the brand’s MIAS 2026 presence, positioned as a premium hybrid SUV combining performance, efficiency, and tech. It runs on a 2.0L turbo hybrid powertrain paired with the Toyota Hybrid System (THS II), delivering 140 kW and 320 Nm of torque.

Designed for both urban and mixed-terrain use, it features:

  • Multiple drive modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Off-road)
  • E-Four all-wheel-drive system
  • E-CVT transmission for smoother hybrid transitions

Inside, the GS8 HEV focuses on comfort and tech integration, including a 14.6-inch infotainment display, 12.3-inch digital cluster, and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

E8 HEV preview highlights family-focused hybrid mobility

GAC also previewed the E8 HEV, a seven-seater hybrid MPV built for long-range and family use. The model offers up to 1,200 km combined range, positioning it as a practical option for long-distance travel.

Its interior emphasizes comfort and flexibility, with features such as ventilated and massage-enabled second-row seats and a large configurable cargo space. Pricing and full specifications are expected closer to its official launch.

Broader NEV lineup: from PHEVs to full EVs

Beyond hybrids, GAC’s booth features a mix of plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles:

  • GN8 PHEV – luxury MPV with over 1,000 km range and 106 km EV-only driving
  • HYPTEC HT – premium electric SUV with 600+ km range and ultra-fast charging
  • AION V – mid-size EV built for daily driving with fast-charging capability
  • 2026 EMZOOM – refreshed subcompact crossover with urban-focused features

This diversified lineup shows how GAC is covering multiple segments—from executive MPVs to mass-market EVs—while scaling its electrification strategy locally.

Pricing and introductory offers

GAC Philippines announced introductory pricing for select electrified models until May 31:

  • GN8 PHEV – ₱3.238M (intro) from ₱3.388M SRP
  • HYPTEC HT – starts at ₱2.16M
  • AION V – starts at ₱1.418M

Additional discounts are available during MIAS 2026 through partner financing offers.

Expanding local presence and ownership support

GAC is also strengthening its aftersales and ownership experience in the Philippines. The brand now operates 30 dealerships nationwide, supported by a Manila-based parts warehouse to improve service turnaround.

Warranty coverage includes:

  • 5 years / 150,000 km for fuel vehicles
  • 8 years / 160,000 km for EVs
  • 2 years free roadside assistance

This aligns with GAC’s strategy to reduce barriers to EV adoption by improving reliability, service access, and long-term ownership confidence.

What this means for the Philippine EV market

GAC’s expanded NEV lineup at MIAS 2026 reflects a broader transition in the Philippine automotive industry. With hybrids, PHEVs, and EVs now spanning multiple price points, consumers have more accessible entry points into electrified mobility.

As infrastructure and policy support continue to develop, launches like the GS8 HEV and AION V signal how brands are positioning early to capture demand in the country’s evolving EV landscape.
