vivo pushes the “camera kit in your pocket” idea with the X300 Ultra

In a market where smartphones increasingly compete with dedicated cameras, vivo is taking the argument further. The new vivo X300 Ultra doesn’t just aim to improve mobile photography—it tries to replace an entire imaging setup altogether.

Priced at Php 149,999 for the Photographer Kit, the device leans heavily into a simple but bold question: if a phone can match pro-grade output, do creators still need separate camera systems?

A smartphone built like a camera system, not just a camera phone

The vivo X300 Ultra adopts a structured imaging system built around three ZEISS focal lengths under vivo, shifting away from a single “versatile” lens approach toward a more camera-like, intent-driven setup.

It features a 14mm ZEISS Ultra Wide lens for landscapes and environmental shots, a 35mm ZEISS Documentary lens for natural storytelling, and an 85mm ZEISS Gimbal-Grade Telephoto lens for portraits and subject isolation.

The system is further enhanced by ZEISS telephoto extenders that push reach up to 400mm, enabling long-range shooting without external rigs.

For video creators, the device supports Multi-Focal 4K 120fps 10-bit Log recording and Dolby Vision across all focal lengths, helping maintain consistent color and dynamic range across professional production workflows.

Built for creators who don’t want to carry extra gear

Under the hood, the X300 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 paired with vivo’s Pro Imaging Chip VS1+. This combination is aimed at sustaining heavy computational photography and video workloads without throttling during extended shoots.

Thermal performance is managed through a vapor chamber system, while a 6600mAh BlueVolt battery supports 100W wired and 40W wireless FlashCharge. Bypass charging is also included for long studio or field sessions.

The display—2K ZEISS Master Color Panel—peaks at 4500 nits, designed for outdoor preview accuracy, especially for creators working under unpredictable lighting conditions.

A full production kit, not just a flagship phone

The Photographer Kit extends the concept further, turning the device into a full imaging rig. It includes telephoto extenders, a professional grip, tripod collar, lens adapters, and workflow accessories meant for field production.

This positions the device less as a consumer upgrade and more as a hybrid tool for photographers and filmmakers who want portability without sacrificing optical flexibility.

The bigger idea: consolidation of creative tools

Beyond specs, the X300 Ultra reflects a broader industry direction—converging multiple creative tools into a single device. It’s not just about better sensors or faster chips anymore, but about reducing friction between idea and execution.

With pro-grade imaging features, extended optical reach, and a bundled production ecosystem, vivo is clearly targeting a specific group: creators who want to travel lighter but shoot heavier.

The vivo X300 Ultra Photographer Kit is available for pre-order until June 5 via official vivo stores and the vivo e-store. The standard X300 Ultra is also available separately at Php 109,999, while the ZEISS Telephoto Gen 2 Kit can be purchased for Php 13,999.
