Town of Zoz Debuts Playable Demo During Steam Next Fest

Studio Pixanoh has released the first playable demo for Town of Zoz as part of Steam Next Fest.

The narrative-driven action RPG is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The newly released demo is available now on Steam for a limited time during the event.

A Shaman Chef’s Return to Zoz

In Town of Zoz, players step into the role of Ito, a young shaman chef who returns to his family’s village as ancient magic begins to resurface. The game blends fast-paced combat with cooking and farming systems, set in a vibrant world inspired by Latin American indigenous cultures.

Players hunt magical creatures, gather ingredients, and prepare meals that strengthen bonds with townsfolk while granting combat advantages. The story explores both lighthearted village life and darker supernatural elements beneath the surface.

Combat, Cooking, and Co-Op

The demo introduces key gameplay systems, including Ito’s combat abilities and his shapeshifting spirit companion, Zee. Zee supports players in multiple roles such as Plant Mage and Pot Warrior.

Town of Zoz supports solo play as well as local couch co-op. Combat encounters are complemented by cooking mechanics, where magical recipes provide buffs and progression benefits.

Players will also encounter “Village Nightmares,” dungeon-like challenges formed from villagers’ trauma. These sections contrast with the game’s farming and relationship-building elements, shifting between high-intensity combat and slower-paced community interactions.

Handcrafted Visual Style

Town of Zoz features a hand-crafted art style described as modern fantasy with a Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic, balancing colorful visuals with darker narrative themes.

The demo is currently available on Steam as part of Steam Next Fest, offering players an early look ahead of the game’s full release in 2026.
