Magic Chess: Go Go expands beyond the board with Go Go Plaza, GOGO MOBA in Season 5

Magic Chess: Go Go will introduce new ways to play and interact when Season 5 launches on 10 February, adding two new game modes—GOGO MOBA and Go Go Plaza—alongside its first-ever cooking-themed mini-game as part of the Golden Month celebration.

Developed by MOONTON Games, Season 5 shifts MCGG beyond its traditional auto-battler format, offering new spaces for exploration, social interaction, and limited-time gameplay while retaining its core strategic elements.

GOGO MOBA brings commanders into real-time combat

Season 5 introduces GOGO MOBA, a limited-time Multiplayer Online Battle Arena mode that allows players to directly control commanders on a redesigned map. The mode features new jump mechanics that let commanders leap over walls and terrain, adding a layer of mobility not previously seen in MCGG.

Players can select from multiple commanders and navigate familiar environments reworked for real-time movement and interaction, offering a different way to engage with the game’s characters outside the chessboard.

Go Go Plaza focuses on social interaction

Alongside GOGO MOBA, Go Go Plaza serves as a shared hub where players can control their favorite commanders and interact with others in a free-roaming environment. Players can greet each other using Battle Emotes, take in-game photos, or travel together using a team train.

MOONTON Games stated that future updates to Go Go Plaza will introduce additional interactive features, seasonal decorations, and team-based mini-games, expanding its role as a social space within MCGG.

Golden Month introduces MCGG’s first cooking mini-game

Starting 17 February, MCGG will roll out the Golden Month campaign, featuring the game’s first cooking-themed mini-game. Players will collect ingredients and complete menu objectives to earn Zilong’s new Special skin at no cost.

The event marks MCGG’s first foray into casual mini-game content tied to seasonal rewards.

New synergies arrive in Season 5

Season 5 will also add new synergies to the core game, including Neobeasts, Exorcist, Mystic Meow, and Heartbond, introducing additional strategic options for players as they adapt to the updated meta.

“With Season 5, we want to expand how players experience MCGG—not just on the board, but across diverse spaces and gameplay moments,” said Gao “Skyhook” Chong, Producer for MCGG at MOONTON Games. “Every update this season is aimed at creating a universe that adds depth to the player experience and fosters stronger community connections.”

More details on Season 5 content and mechanics are available in the official appendix provided by MOONTON Games.
