Marvel has started the countdown to Avengers: Doomsday with a new video podcast that revisits key films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The “Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast” is now streaming on Disney+ Philippines, with its first three episodes available ahead of the film’s December 16, 2026 theatrical release.
The series brings together Iman Vellani, who starred as Ms. Marvel in the MCU, and podcast host Frank Alvarez of The Basement Yard to revisit five films from The Infinity Saga.
Five Infinity Saga films lead into Doomsday
Each episode focuses on one of the five Avengers-related films that helped define the MCU’s first major storyline.
Vellani and Alvarez recap each movie before discussing specific scenes, character arcs, and major moments. The hosts also look ahead to Avengers: Doomsday, speculating on the themes, characters, and storylines that could shape the next major MCU crossover.
The podcast covers The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
All five films are currently available on Disney+ as part of Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga collection.
New episodes arrive ahead of Avengers: Doomsday
The first three episodes are already available, while the final two will follow on a weekly schedule. Episodes one through three cover The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War, respectively, and are now streaming. Episode four, covering Avengers: Infinity War, will arrive on September 17, followed by the Avengers: Endgame episode on September 24.
The fifth episode is timed to coincide with the theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame: Encore.
The video podcast is also being distributed through YouTube and audio platforms, giving fans multiple ways to follow the MCU retrospective.
Iman Vellani and Frank Alvarez lead the discussion
Vellani brings an MCU connection to the series after starring in Ms. Marvel and appearing as Kamala Khan in The Marvels.
Alvarez, meanwhile, joins the project from the podcasting world through The Basement Yard. Their discussions combine film recaps with deeper conversations about the choices, characters, and moments that shaped the Avengers’ journey.
The series is produced in partnership with Omaha Productions, with Vellani and Alvarez also serving as producers.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in December
The podcast serves as a five-episode primer for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, which reunites characters from different corners of Marvel’s cinematic universe.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz. Its extensive cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Tom Hiddleston, and several other returning and new MCU stars.
Avengers: Doomsday centers on heroes from three distinct universes being pushed toward a deadly collision as they face an existential threat.
For Philippine audiences, Avengers: Doomsday opens exclusively in theaters on December 16, 2026, while the new podcast provides a way to revisit the MCU’s earlier Avengers saga in the weeks leading up to the film.
