AMD Expands Ryzen AI 400 Series with Desktop, Notebook, Mobile Workstation Options
AMD has expanded its Ryzen AI portfolio with the introduction of the Ryzen AI 400 Series and Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors, bringing on-device AI acceleration to desktops, notebooks, and mobile workstations. The new processors are designed for professionals and enterprises seeking local AI performance, faster multithreaded processing, and Copilot+ PC experiences.
The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress 2026, where AMD highlighted the processors’ ability to handle compute-intensive workloads, including AI applications, design, engineering, and development tasks.
Ryzen AI 400 Series Desktop: First Copilot+ PC Processors
The Ryzen AI 400 Series desktop processors are the first to support Microsoft Copilot+ experiences, combining high-performance Zen 5 CPU cores, AMD RDNA 3.5 graphics, and a dedicated XDNA 2 neural processing unit (NPU) delivering up to 50 TOPS of AI compute.
These processors allow users to run AI assistants and productivity tools locally, keeping sensitive data on device while accelerating workloads. Models include the Ryzen AI 7 450G and Ryzen AI 5 440G, with variants optimized for performance (65W) and efficiency (35W). AM5 desktop systems powered by Ryzen AI 400 Series processors are expected from OEMs such as HP and Lenovo starting in Q2 2026.
Jack Huynh, senior VP and GM of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group, said, “With the Ryzen AI 400 Series processors, we’re bringing powerful AI acceleration that enables our partners to build systems empowering both enterprises and consumers to do more and create more.”
Expanding AI to Mobile Workstations
AMD also extended its Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series mobile processors to notebooks and mobile workstations. The Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470, for example, delivers up to 30% faster multithreaded performance than comparable Intel processors, while maintaining all-day battery life.
The processors include a high-performance NPU with up to 60 TOPS of AI compute, enabling local AI acceleration for professional applications. Mobile workstations powered by Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors are optimized for independent software vendor (ISV) workflows, supporting engineering, creative, and technical workloads with CPU, NPU, and GPU resources. Availability from OEMs including Dell, HP, and Lenovo is expected in Q2 2026.
Enterprise-Grade Security and Manageability with AMD PRO
The expanded Ryzen AI portfolio is backed by the AMD PRO platform, which provides enterprise-grade security, manageability, and reliability. AMD PRO simplifies IT operations for distributed AI-enabled fleets, offering remote management features that allow administrators to monitor, diagnose, and restore systems without desk-side visits.
Systems powered by Ryzen AI PRO processors are validated for compatibility with leading commercial security solutions, enabling seamless integration into enterprise environments while protecting hardware investments over time.
With these updates, AMD broadens its AI-enabled PC offerings, providing desktops, notebooks, and mobile workstations with scalable AI performance, improved security, and support for next-generation professional workflows.
