CON-CON Hong Kong 2026 Set for AsiaWorld-Expo Debut

A new large-scale pop culture convention is set to launch in Hong Kong next year, with organizers positioning it as a cross-border platform for anime, music, and IP culture.

CON-CON Hong Kong 2026 will take place on April 4–5, 2026 at AsiaWorld-Expo, marking the city’s first homegrown convention built around international IP expansion and live entertainment.

Backed by Medialink Group — the company behind Ani-One and several major anime distribution initiatives in Asia — the event aims to merge Japanese pop culture, Hong Kong creators, and regional audiences under one large-scale platform.

A Convention Built Around IP Internationalization

Branded as “Convention for Connection,” CON-CON Hong Kong 2026 is structured as more than a fan gathering. Organizers describe it as an IP ecosystem featuring over 1,000 pop culture and anime properties.

The event will host Japanese anime collaborations, premieres, limited-edition merchandise launches, and industry talks focused on creative production and cross-market expansion. Organizers are also planning a dedicated showcase for emerging Hong Kong creators, signaling their effort to elevate local IP to a broader regional stage.

Medialink Group is investing tens of millions into the project and expects to attract over 30,000 attendees from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and Southeast Asia.

Creative Direction Led by COIN PARKING DELIVERY

International visual artist COIN PARKING DELIVERY has been tapped as Creative Director for the inaugural edition. Known for work spanning K-pop visuals to global brand collaborations, the artist will oversee the event’s visual identity and stage presentation across AsiaWorld-Expo’s halls.

Organizers say the goal is to transform the venue into an immersive cultural space that reflects both global trend culture and Hong Kong’s creative identity.

The Face of the Festival: Cocomi Named First Ambassador

In a move that perfectly bridges the gap between high art and pop culture, CON-CON has officially named Cocomi as its first-ever Ambassador. A renowned classical musician and flute performer, Cocomi represents the “cross-border” soul of the event.

Her appointment isn’t just about a famous name; it’s a nod to her deep roots in the anime, comic, and games world. Cocomi previously lent her voice to the anime movie Mirage Queen’s Elegant Vacation and showcased her dual-threat talent in Kiko’s Restaurant, where she served as both a voice actress and a flute performer for the soundtrack.

Her presence adds a layer of classical elegance to the festival’s gritty, trend-driven energy.

Cross-Border Music Lineup Announced

A two-day music festival will serve as one of the convention’s anchor attractions, featuring Japanese and Hong Kong artists.

On April 4, performers include Yoko Takahashi, AK @MIRROR, Do As Infinity, Goodnight Lillie, TOGENASHI TOGEARI, and Unnämed.

The April 5 lineup features Maki Ohguro, MIYAVI, Tyson Yoshi, Maki Goto, FLOW, and Mahiru.

Organizers describe the concert component as a key driver in positioning CON-CON beyond a traditional trade expo format.

Medialink’s Shift From Digital to Physical Platforms

For Medialink Group, CON-CON represents a strategic expansion beyond digital distribution. The company operates major anime-focused YouTube channels, including Ani-One, which collectively serve more than 10 million subscribers.

By launching a physical flagship convention, Medialink aims to establish a recurring platform that anchors Hong Kong’s role in Asia’s pop culture and IP economy.
