Digital bank Maya has joined MediaQuest’s THINKaMuna Pilipinas initiative, expanding efforts to fight online scams by combining media literacy and financial education for Filipino users.
The collaboration comes as digital fraud cases grow more sophisticated in the country, targeting users of online banking, e-wallets, and social platforms. The partnership aims to help Filipinos identify scams, strengthen critical thinking online, and practice safer digital financial habits.
Strengthening digital safety amid rising scams
THINKaMuna Pilipinas, launched by MediaQuest in 2024, promotes media and information literacy by encouraging users to “pause, verify, and think” before engaging with online content or transactions.
With Maya now part of the council, the initiative is expanding its focus beyond misinformation to include financial scam prevention and fraud awareness, particularly as more Filipinos adopt digital payment platforms.
The collaboration will roll out educational content and community programs focused on scam and fraud awareness, digital safety practices, responsible financial behavior online, and media literacy in everyday digital use.
By integrating financial education with broader information literacy efforts, THINKaMuna Pilipinas aims to strengthen public resilience against both online misinformation and increasingly sophisticated digital financial scams.

Media literacy meets financial education
MediaQuest said the partnership reflects the growing overlap between online information consumption and financial decision-making.
Ricky Vargas, President and CEO of MediaQuest, said media literacy now plays a critical role in everyday safety, especially as scams increasingly target digital transactions.
Maya CEO and Co-Founder Orlando Vea also emphasized that trust and safety must scale alongside digital finance adoption, noting that financial education and media literacy now go hand in hand.
Expanding efforts to protect digital consumers
Since its launch, THINKaMuna Pilipinas has partnered with organizations such as UNESCO, PRSP, and IABC, while also receiving recognition at the Asia Design Prize 2026 and Marketech APAC Next Awards Philippines 2025.
The program continues to position itself as a national advocacy platform for responsible digital behavior, especially as misinformation and financial scams increasingly converge online.
For Maya, the partnership adds to its ongoing push to improve fraud protection systems, customer safety features, and public awareness campaigns as more Filipinos rely on digital finance services.
Building safer digital habits for Filipinos
Through the collaboration, Maya and MediaQuest aim to equip Filipinos with tools to better identify online threats and make informed decisions in an increasingly digital economy.
The initiative reinforces a shared goal: strengthening both media literacy and financial awareness to help users navigate online platforms more safely.
