Lenovo has reported that more than 90% of the electricity used across its global operations now comes from renewable sources, marking a key milestone in its sustainability strategy outlined in the company’s FY2025-26 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report.
The report details Lenovo’s progress in climate action, circular economy initiatives, workforce diversity, and responsible AI development while introducing a new set of long-term sustainability aspirations as the company approaches the completion of its first-generation ESG goals.
Lenovo advances toward net-zero emissions
Lenovo said it remains on track to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with its climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
According to the company, renewable electricity now accounts for more than 90% of power consumption across its global operations, supported through a combination of on-site renewable energy generation, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
Lenovo says the milestone represents one of its most significant environmental achievements as businesses continue investing in renewable energy to reduce operational greenhouse gas emissions.
Circular economy efforts expand across product portfolio
The report also highlights Lenovo’s continued investment in circular design through its R.E.A.L. Framework, which focuses on improving product repairability, reuse, and recycling.
According to the company, all Lenovo PC products now incorporate post-consumer recycled content materials, excluding tablets and accessories. Since 2005, Lenovo has recovered more than 800 million pounds (approximately 363 million kilograms) of end-of-life products and reused 300 million pounds of post-consumer recycled plastics. The company also said its smartphone packaging now contains 60% recycled materials while reducing single-use plastics by 50% compared with fiscal year 2020-21.

Lenovo says these initiatives reflect a broader industry shift toward designing consumer electronics with greater emphasis on sustainability, material recovery, and extended product lifecycles.
AI becomes part of Lenovo’s sustainability strategy
Beyond hardware, Lenovo continues to integrate artificial intelligence into its environmental and social initiatives.
The company said AI now supports sustainability-related data collection and analysis while also powering projects with broader social impact. Among the initiatives highlighted in the report are TRAdA, an AI solution for predicting heart arrhythmia in athletes, accessibility technologies such as communication avatars and sign language translation, and global AI education programs developed with organizations including Tech To The Rescue and Ashoka.
Lenovo also participates in industry collaborations such as the ITU AI Skills Coalition and the Coalition for Sustainable AI, reflecting growing efforts across the technology sector to promote responsible AI development and deployment.
Workplace diversity and community impact continue to grow
The ESG Report notes improvements in workforce diversity, including increased representation of women and underrepresented groups across Lenovo’s global operations.
The company also reported that its philanthropic programs positively impacted more than 25 million people between 2021 and 2026 by expanding access to technology and education.
Volunteer initiatives, including Lenovo’s Love on Month of Service, also reached record employee participation during the reporting period.
Lenovo earns global ESG recognition
Lenovo’s sustainability efforts have received recognition from multiple organizations over the past year.
Among its latest accolades are the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, inclusion in the CDP A List for climate and water along with an A rating for supplier engagement, recognition in Corporate Knights’ 100 Most Sustainable Companies, a No. 5 ranking in Gartner’s 2026 Global Supply Chain Rankings, and the “Most Sustainable Organization” Award from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
With its first generation of ESG targets nearing completion, Lenovo said the next phase of its sustainability strategy will focus on expanding environmental initiatives while supporting responsible AI innovation and long-term business resilience.
