An alien world shaped by mystery and decay awaits in CALX, the upcoming atmospheric 3D action-adventure title from Italian studio True Colors and French publisher Dear Villagers.
The game appeared during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, where the developers confirmed that CALX will launch on PC on June 4, with console versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Nintendo Switch planned later in the year. A playable demo is already available on Steam.
Exploring the Planet Syro
In CALX, players explore the distant planet Syro, a world inspired by the visual style of legendary artist Jean Giraud. The story follows a lone traveler on a mission to free the planet from a mysterious corruption known as the WARP.

The journey takes players across expansive environments filled with crystal formations, ancient ruins, and remnants of a long-lost civilization. Along the way, players will uncover the planet’s history while confronting the forces responsible for its transformation.
Movement-Focused Gameplay
Movement plays a central role in the design of CALX. As players progress through the game, they will unlock and improve traversal abilities that enhance both combat encounters and exploration.
These upgrades allow players to navigate Syro’s varied landscapes, discover hidden areas, and experience the planet’s large-scale environments and striking visual compositions.
A Sci-Fi World Shaped by Art and Music
The game’s atmosphere is further defined by its soundtrack composed by Matteo Ferrante, whose work draws inspiration from electronic artist Aphex Twin. The soundtrack adapts dynamically to each biome, shifting between reflective exploration and high-energy combat.

Combined with its Moebius-inspired visuals, the developers aim to create a world where art, music, and gameplay merge into a cohesive experience.
“Our intent while creating CALX was to fully immerse players in a distant, alien planet,” said game and narrative designer Gabriele Ferreccio. “We wanted to recapture that feeling of isolation and discovery that we felt with games like Metroid and Hyper Light Drifter.”
CALX launches June 4 on PC, with console versions arriving later in the year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Players interested in the game can try the demo now on Steam.
