LG Unveils UltraGear evo at CES 2026, Introduces World’s First 5K AI Upscaling Gaming Monitors

LG Electronics has announced the global launch of UltraGear evo, its new premium gaming monitor brand, set to debut at CES 2026.

The new lineup positions LG at the forefront of high-resolution gaming displays, introducing what the company calls the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling technology powered by an on-device AI solution. The UltraGear evo portfolio spans OLED, new MiniLED, and ultra-wide formats, all centered on 5K and 5K2K resolutions.

5K AI Upscaling Without GPU Upgrades

At the core of the UltraGear evo series is LG’s proprietary on-device AI processing system. The technology analyzes content in real time before it reaches the panel, enhancing clarity to 5K-class quality without requiring gamers to upgrade their GPUs.

Beyond resolution scaling, the AI suite includes AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound, refining both visuals and audio output for a more immersive gaming experience.

39GX950B: 39-Inch 5K2K OLED With Dual Mode

The 39GX950B builds on LG’s GX9 series with a 39-inch 5K2K OLED display designed for immersive gameplay and multitasking.

It uses LG’s Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology to improve brightness, color accuracy, and panel longevity while maintaining deep blacks. The 1500R-curved 21:9 ultrawide screen retains the vertical height of a 32-inch display and offers 142 PPI pixel density with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

Dual Mode allows switching between 165Hz at 5K2K resolution and 330Hz at WFHD, supported by a 0.03ms (GtG) response time, giving users flexibility between visual fidelity and competitive speed.

27GM950B: World’s First 5K New MiniLED Monitor

The 27GM950B is positioned as the world’s first 27-inch 5K New MiniLED gaming monitor engineered to significantly reduce blooming effects.

It features 2,304 local dimming zones and Zero Optical Distance engineering to minimize the gap between panel and LED, enhancing brightness and contrast accuracy. The monitor carries VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification and reaches peak brightness levels of up to 1,250 nits.

Like the 39-inch model, it supports 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound. Dual Mode enables users to switch between 165Hz at 5K and 330Hz at QHD, with a 1ms (GtG) response time.

52G930B: World’s Largest 5K2K Gaming Monitor

The 52G930B expands the lineup with what LG describes as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor.

The 52-inch display offers a 12:9 panoramic format with the vertical viewing height of a 42-inch 16:9 display. It delivers a 240Hz refresh rate and features a 1000R curvature designed to wrap around the user’s field of view. Visual performance is validated by VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification.

Expanding Beyond Consumer Gaming

According to Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, the UltraGear evo lineup reflects LG’s broader high-resolution strategy across both consumer gaming and professional B2B markets, including medical displays.

The company will showcase the new monitors at CES 2026 through themed demo zones. These includes a “Dream Setup” area inspired by gaming communities and a SimCraft-powered racing simulation featuring the 39GX950B.

Alongside the UltraGear evo announcement, LG confirmed that sales of the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790B) will begin globally on the opening day of CES 2026. The 27-inch model features a QHD Primary RGB Tandem OLED display. It will have a 540Hz refresh rate and Dual Mode support up to 720Hz at HD resolution.

With UltraGear evo, LG is positioning 5K AI-enhanced gaming as the next step in premium display performance, targeting users who demand both ultra-high resolution and competitive-grade speed in a single platform.
