Muntinlupa City has added eight BYD Dolphin electric vehicles (EVs) to its police fleet, bringing battery-powered cars into daily law enforcement operations as the city expands its use of cleaner public-service transport.
BYD Cars Philippines formally turned over the eight units to the City Government of Muntinlupa, with all vehicles assigned to the Muntinlupa Police Station for Philippine National Police (PNP) operations and road patrols.

The new EVs will support daily patrols and other law enforcement activities across Muntinlupa.
Beyond providing additional vehicles for police operations, the city expects the electric cars to reduce some of the recurring costs associated with conventional internal-combustion patrol vehicles.
BYD points to lower maintenance requirements and the elimination of fuel expenses as potential sources of operational savings for government fleets.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the acquisition forms part of Muntinlupa’s longer-term investment in clean energy.
“With electric patrol cars, our police force can stay on the road longer without worry and gives them a more reliable way to serve our community,” Biazon said.
EVs become p art of Muntinlupa’s green transport push
The police fleet deployment forms part of Muntinlupa’s broader sustainability and green transport initiatives.
The city government has been pursuing greater use of clean-energy technologies, while the addition of EVs to a frontline public-service fleet puts electrification into a practical operational setting.
For police departments, fleet electrification also involves considerations beyond emissions, including vehicle availability, charging infrastructure, maintenance, and operating costs.
The Muntinlupa deployment provides an example of how an LGU can incorporate EVs into an existing public-service fleet rather than limiting their use to private transportation.
BYD expands LGU fleet partnerships
For BYD Cars Philippines, the Muntinlupa deal adds to its growing number of fleet partnerships with local government units and government agencies.
The company is positioning EVs as an option for public-service fleets as LGUs assess the long-term costs and operational requirements of electrification.
“Muntinlupa’s decision to electrify its police fleet reflects the kind of forward-thinking leadership we hope to see in more local governments,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.
He added that the company aims to work with LGUs moving toward cleaner and more cost-efficient public-service fleets.
With eight BYD Dolphins now assigned to Muntinlupa’s police force, the city joins the growing number of Philippine government fleets beginning to use EVs for frontline operations.
