LG Electronics Philippines marked Earth Day 2026 with an internal e-waste collection initiative, gathering 1,200 kilograms of discarded electronics from March 31 to April 21.
The activity highlights the company’s ongoing push toward responsible waste management, while also encouraging employee participation in sustainability efforts at the local level.
LG Philippines e-waste initiative supports proper disposal
Collected electronic waste was turned over to TRAME OIL, an accredited partner responsible for handling and processing hazardous materials.
Employee volunteers also participated in the dismantling and destruction of e-waste at an LG warehouse in Pasig City. This hands-on involvement reflects a broader effort to embed sustainability practices within company operations, not just external programs.
E-waste typically includes items such as:
- Televisions and home appliances
- Computers and mobile devices
- Batteries and small electronics

Improper disposal of these materials can contribute to environmental damage, particularly in water, air, and soil systems.
Part of LG’s global recycling and sustainability strategy
The Earth Day initiative aligns with LG’s wider environmental strategy, which includes recycling programs across its global operations. The company reports maintaining a recycling rate above 95% across its business sites.
To date, LG has collected over 5.01 million tons of e-waste globally. It also operates electronic waste collection and treatment services in 89 locations across 54 countries, including the Philippines, where services began in 2022.
This global scale reflects how large electronics manufacturers are increasingly integrating recycling into their operational frameworks, not just as compliance measures but as long-term sustainability commitments.

Growing focus on e-waste management in the Philippines
E-waste remains a growing concern in the Philippines, as device usage continues to rise across households and businesses. Initiatives like LG’s collection drive contribute to raising awareness around proper disposal and recycling practices.
By involving employees directly, companies can also influence behavior beyond the workplace—encouraging individuals to adopt more responsible habits in managing electronic waste.
LG reinforces sustainability through internal engagement
LG’s Earth Day program underscores a broader shift in corporate sustainability, where internal engagement plays a key role alongside public-facing initiatives.
As environmental concerns continue to shape consumer expectations and industry standards, programs focused on recycling and waste reduction are becoming a core part of how technology companies operate and communicate their long-term commitments.
