LG Electronics (LG) has earned official certification from NVIDIA for its 600kW Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU), validating the company’s liquid cooling technology for AI infrastructure and strengthening its position in the fast-growing AI data center market.
The certification confirms that LG’s cooling solution meets NVIDIA’s AI Factory standards after passing more than 100 technical evaluation criteria covering cooling performance, reliability, and failover capabilities for high-density AI workloads.
LG joins NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure ecosystem
LG is now among the select companies worldwide whose cooling solutions have been officially validated by NVIDIA for AI Factory deployments.
The certification strengthens LG’s role as a verified infrastructure partner for hyperscalers and data center operators, helping reduce procurement risks while accelerating qualification for large-scale AI deployments.
Liquid cooling designed for AI workloads
The NVIDIA-certified 600kW CDU is designed to handle the thermal demands of modern AI GPUs through a Direct-to-Chip (DTC) liquid cooling system that delivers coolant directly to processors such as GPUs and CPUs.
The hybrid cooling solution works alongside conventional air-cooling systems while maintaining temperature control within ±0.25°C, helping improve thermal stability for AI servers.
LG also integrated virtual sensor technology for real-time monitoring and leak detection, while its Data Center Cooling Control Manager (DCCM) provides predictive controls, centralized monitoring, and compatibility with standard data center management systems.
To validate reliability, LG conducts system-wide testing at its dedicated Chip-to-Chiller validation facility in Pyeongtaek, where it evaluates temperature stability, transient response, and low-load performance across the entire cooling chain—from AI chips and cold plates to CDUs and chillers.
Expanding its Chip-to-Chiller portfolio
The certification reinforces LG’s strategy of offering a complete Chip-to-Chiller cooling portfolio for AI data centers.
The portfolio includes chillers that generate chilled water, CDUs that circulate coolant, and cold plates that cool AI chips directly, forming a comprehensive liquid cooling ecosystem for next-generation AI infrastructure.
More CDU certifications planned
Following the certification of its 600kW model, LG plans to secure NVIDIA validation for larger CDU systems, including 1MW, 2.5MW, and 4MW variants.
Backed by six decades of HVAC expertise, LG manufactures key cooling components in-house, including inverter systems and magnetic bearing compressors, which are also used across its chiller lineup.
The company has recently secured AI data center cooling projects for hyperscaler facilities in North America and SM+ Data Center’s flagship AI-ready facility in Jakarta, Indonesia.
