‘Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord’ trailer drops ahead of Disney+ premiere

Lucasfilm has released the official trailer and poster for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, an upcoming animated series set to premiere on Disney+ on April 6.

The series marks the return of Darth Maul as the central figure, continuing his story following the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Story explores Maul’s rise beyond the Empire’s shadow

“Maul – Shadow Lord” follows the former Sith as he attempts to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a remote planet untouched by the Empire.

The narrative introduces a new dynamic as Maul encounters a young Jedi Padawan, setting up a potential apprentice relationship that ties into his long-standing pursuit of power and revenge.

This direction expands Maul’s arc beyond his previous appearances. It focuses on his role in the galaxy’s underworld rather than the traditional Sith hierarchy.

Weekly release schedule leads to May the 4th finale

The series will adopt a staggered release format, with two episodes dropping weekly starting April 6.

The final episodes are scheduled to air on Star Wars Day, aligning the conclusion with the franchise’s annual global celebration.

Creative team led by Dave Filoni

He is joined by a production team that includes:

The series builds on the creative direction established in previous animated titles within the franchise.
