Marvel Games, Limited Run Games Announce MARVEL MaXimum Collection
Limited Run Games has announced MARVEL MaXimum Collection, a curated compilation of classic Marvel titles developed in collaboration with Marvel Games and Konami Digital Entertainment.
The collection brings together six retro-era Marvel games spanning arcade, 8-bit, and 16-bit platforms. MARVEL MaXimum Collection will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Steam.
Included Games and Versions
MARVEL MaXimum Collection compiles multiple versions of each title across platforms, including arcade and home console releases.
X-Men: The Arcade Game (Arcade) – X-Men: The Arcade Game returns with online multiplayer support for up to six players, recreating the original arcade experience.
Captain America and The Avengers (Arcade, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, NES) – Captain America and The Avengers includes the arcade version alongside home console adaptations for Genesis/Mega Drive and NES.
Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage (SNES, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive) – Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage features both 16-bit console versions based on the comic crossover storyline.
Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (SNES, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive) – Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety includes two-player cooperative play across both major 16-bit platforms.
Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge (SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Gear) – Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge compiles console and handheld versions, including Game Boy and Game Gear editions.
Silver Surfer (NES) – Silver Surfer rounds out the lineup with its original NES release.
Modern Features and Enhancements
In addition to the six titles, the collection introduces several quality-of-life and archival features:
- Digital Archives with high-resolution scans of original box art, manuals, and advertisements
- Music Player featuring soundtracks from all included versions
- Rewind and Save States functionality
- Display Options including modern visual settings and CRT-style filters
Limited Run Games describes MARVEL MaXimum Collection as a preservation-focused release designed to make Marvel’s early video game catalog accessible on modern platforms.
