HONOR Robot Phone Launches Globally, But Is It Coming to the Philippines?

HONOR has officially launched the HONOR Robot Phone, a smartphone built around a motorized camera system that can physically move, track subjects, and capture stabilized footage without relying entirely on a traditional handheld setup.

First unveiled at MWC 2026, the Robot Phone combines a 4DoF mechanical gimbal, AI-powered movement controls, and imaging technologies developed with professional cinema company ARRI. HONOR has yet to confirm Philippine availability, leaving local consumers wondering if the unusual flagship will make its way to the country.

HONOR Robot Phone puts a 4DoF gimbal inside the smartphone

At the center of the Robot Phone is HONOR’s Titanium Agile Gimbal, an ultra-compact 4DoF mechanical system integrated directly into the phone.

HONOR says the system went through 60 manufacturing processes and uses more than 100 precision components, with the company holding more than 100 patents related to the technology. Compared with conventional gimbals, its overall size has been reduced by 65%, while structural strength has increased by 200%.

A 2.6-gram Titanium Gimbal Motor can move at speeds of up to 360 degrees per second, while the HONOR Super Steel Flip Motor delivers a torque density of 120 N·m/L.

Rather than simply stabilizing a camera, the mechanism allows the Robot Phone to physically reposition its camera for different shooting scenarios.

Dual 200MP cameras meet ARRI cinema technology

The Robot Phone’s imaging system is built around two 200MP cameras: a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.6 aperture, alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom.

A 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view completes the rear setup. The main camera also supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording through ARRI CINEMA mode, marking the first product milestone from HONOR’s Cinematic Imaging Partnership with ARRI.

The collaboration brings selected elements of ARRI Image Science into a smartphone, including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks. HONOR also uses its H1 Image Chip alongside AI processing to improve video quality.

According to HONOR, its AI noise reduction can improve video signal-to-noise ratio by up to 8 dB, while dynamic range optimization supports up to 14 stops.

The camera pipeline processes image data in 14-bit 4:4:4 before outputting 10-bit LogC3 and 4:2:2 video. Creators can then bring footage into professional software such as DaVinci Resolve and apply ARRI LUTs during post-production.

AI lets the Robot Phone move and shoot on its own

The mechanical camera system becomes more useful when combined with HONOR’s AI capabilities.

The Robot Phone supports movement modes including Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV), FPV Vertical, and AI SpinShot. These allow the camera to automatically adjust its position for different types of shots.

MagicOS also introduces YOYO Robot Mode, which combines multimodal perception, gesture recognition, contextual understanding, and physical movement.

With Voice Source Localization and AI Live-Tracking, the camera can automatically pan and tilt to keep a subject in frame. Users can also use gestures to deploy the camera arm and capture footage without physically touching the phone. YOYO Auto Execution extends the AI system beyond photography by allowing it to understand user requests and perform multi-step actions across supported apps and system settings.

HONOR is also opening the platform through its Agent Skills interface, allowing third-party developers to create experiences around the Robot Phone’s gimbal, perception, and physical interaction capabilities.

Flagship hardware powers the unusual design

Despite its unconventional camera system, the Robot Phone retains the specifications expected from a flagship smartphone. It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform and uses a custom cooling system designed to maintain performance during extended recording sessions.

Power comes from a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery, with support for 120W wired and 50W wireless HONOR SuperCharge.

The phone features a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 6,800 nits. HONOR also uses its NanoCrystal Shield for protection and includes 4,320Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort.

From MWC 2026 to a global launch

HONOR first showed the Robot Phone at MWC 2026 in March before bringing its camera capabilities to film-focused events.

The device was subsequently used for stabilized tracking shots at Cannes Film Festival’s China Night and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, giving HONOR an opportunity to demonstrate the gimbal’s capabilities outside conventional smartphone photography.

The global launch now moves the Robot Phone from a technology showcase toward commercial availability.

Will the HONOR Robot Phone launch in the Philippines?

For Filipino consumers, however, availability remains the biggest question. HONOR Philippines has not announced local pricing or a release date for the Robot Phone in the supplied launch information.

For now, the device joins HONOR’s global portfolio as one of its most unconventional smartphones, combining mechanical camera movement, AI tracking, 200MP imaging, and ARRI-inspired video workflows in a single device.

If HONOR brings it to the Philippines, the Robot Phone could offer local creators a very different alternative to conventional flagship smartphones and standalone gimbal-camera setups.
