ONIC PH, Team Liquid PH sweep way into MPL PH Season 17 upper bracket finals

ONIC Philippines and Team Liquid PH moved one step closer to the MPL Philippines Season 17 title after sweeping their respective opponents in the upper bracket semifinals on Thursday at the San Juan Arena.

The Super Family stunned second-seeded Team Falcons PH in a commanding 3-0 series, while Team Liquid PH dismantled Smart Omega in another clean sweep to secure their places in the upper bracket finals.

ONIC PH overwhelms Team Falcons PH

ONIC Philippines immediately imposed its tempo in Game 1, closing out Team Falcons PH in just 12 minutes behind Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez’s flawless Luo Yi performance.

The veteran midlaner finished with a 2/0/13 statline as ONIC capitalized on a crucial seventh-minute fight around the third Turtle, taking down three Falcons players to seize full control of the game. King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez also dominated on Leomord, piling up 10 kills and six assists as ONIC snowballed the opener.

Team Falcons PH showed more resistance in Game 2, holding the advantage for most of the first 15 minutes. However, ONIC found its breakthrough after Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto’s Yi Sun-shin caught fire in the late game.

Savero ended the 21-minute win with seven kills and six assists, earning MVP honors as ONIC overturned the deficit despite Falcons securing two Lords.

The Super Family then slammed the door shut in Game 3. Super Frince dictated the pace once more with a 3/0/15 Lylia performance in a 16-minute stomp. ONIC consistently punished every Falcons engagement attempt, while David Charles “Flap” Canon struggled throughout the game with seven deaths.

Team Liquid PH looked every bit like the tournament favorite against Smart Omega.

Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno spearheaded the Game 1 rout with an explosive Harley performance, tallying eight kills and nine assists in an 18-minute victory. The Cavalry overwhelmed Omega in skirmishes all game long, finishing with a dominant 25-11 kill score.

Former Team Liquid PH support John “Perkziva” Sumawan struggled to contain the pressure on Hylos, while James “Jeymz” Gloria’s Yu Zhong repeatedly got picked off during key engagements.

KarlTzy continued his masterclass in Game 2, this time on Suyou. The veteran jungler posted five kills and four assists in another lopsided 14-minute win as Smart Omega managed to destroy only two turrets throughout the match. Kenneth “Netskie” Barro also found little room to scale on Karrie amid Team Liquid’s relentless map control.

Alston “Sanji” Pabico then took over in Game 3 to complete the sweep. The star midlaner erupted for seven kills and eight assists on Yve as Team Liquid PH closed the series in just 10 minutes. Omega barely found openings throughout the game, managing only three kills while surrendering every major objective.

With the victories, ONIC Philippines and Team Liquid PH both secured top-three finishes in MPL PH Season 17 and now sit just one series away from qualifying for the MLBB Mid Season Cup at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris.

Meanwhile, Team Falcons PH and Smart Omega drop to the lower bracket semifinals, where another loss would end their campaigns.
