Xiaomi has introduced its new Kunlun electric vehicle platform alongside the SkyNomad Series, marking a major expansion of its automotive lineup with two extended-range SUVs designed for families.
Unveiled during the Xiaomi SkyNomad Technology Launch Event in Beijing, the lineup consists of the SkyNomad N90 Max, a seven-seat flagship SUV, and the SkyNomad N70 Max, a five-seat all-wheel-drive model. Both are built on the new Kunlun platform, which prioritizes cabin space, modular seating, safety, and intelligent driving technologies.
The SkyNomad N90 Max starts at RMB 299,900, while the N70 Max is priced from RMB 259,900.
Kunlun platform focuses on maximizing interior space
Unlike conventional SUVs that prioritize exterior proportions before interior packaging, Xiaomi said the Kunlun platform was developed around passenger space first.
The platform enables a completely flat cabin floor extending from the first row to the cargo area while optimizing suspension, battery placement, and powertrain packaging to maximize usable interior room.
The larger N90 Max measures 5,285 mm long with a 3,080 mm wheelbase, while the N70 Max comes in at 4,960 mm with a 2,950 mm wheelbase.
Xiaomi also equips the SUVs with sliding seat rails, configurable seating layouts, rotating front seats, zero-gravity seating options, and a sliding center console with built-in wireless charging and a refrigerator.
The cabin can be configured for multiple use cases, including family travel, business meetings, camping, cargo hauling, and mobile workspaces.
Extended-range powertrain offers up to 1,705 km
Powering the lineup is Xiaomi’s Kunlun HyperRange extended-range system.
The SkyNomad series features battery packs ranging from 52 kWh to 76 kWh, allowing the N70 Max to achieve up to 505 km of electric-only range under the CLTC cycle, while the N90 Max reaches 464 km.
With its gasoline range extender, the flagship N90 Max delivers a combined driving range of up to 1,705 km, according to Xiaomi.
The SUVs also use a silicon carbide drive unit, active noise cancellation for the range extender, and support 92-, 95-, and 98-octane fuel.
Safety and AI take center stage
Xiaomi said safety was a primary focus during development.
The SkyNomad features a steel-aluminum hybrid body using 90.4% high-strength steel and aluminum, including 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel in key structural areas.
The flagship SUV comes standard with 12 airbags, including dedicated protection for third-row occupants, while the battery pack incorporates Xiaomi’s new Armor Scale Battery system with multiple layers of structural and thermal protection.
The company also highlighted intelligent safety features such as emergency rear escape handles, floating capability during accidental submersion, and more than two dozen driver-assistance safety functions.
AI-powered cabin and assisted driving
Inside, the SkyNomad runs Xiaomi’s latest intelligent cockpit powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, supporting dual 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, a customizable head-up display, six-screen connectivity, and a 25-speaker audio system.
The vehicle also integrates Hyper XiaoAi, allowing occupants to adjust seating layouts, climate controls, and lighting through voice commands.
For assisted driving, the SkyNomad comes equipped with a 700 TOPS computing platform, LiDAR, radar, and multiple cameras. Xiaomi said its upgraded HAD system supports voice-controlled driving functions and navigation assistance in underground parking structures.
Pre-orders for the Xiaomi SkyNomad Series opened on July 30, with customers who place a deposit receiving priority production scheduling and a complimentary in-car folding table upon delivery.
