GAC International Philippines is preparing to bring the AION UT to the local market this May 2026, positioning the all-electric hatchback as a compact urban vehicle with upgraded space, design, and smart mobility features.
The AION UT enters the growing Philippine EV market as more brands expand their electrified offerings, competing in a segment increasingly shaped by affordability, design appeal, and everyday usability.
EV hatchback segment gets a new global contender
The GAC AION UT is GAC’s latest battery-electric vehicle (BEV) hatchback, already showcased in markets such as Australia, Thailand, Europe, and Latin America. The company expects the model to serve as one of its key global EV offerings.
In the Philippines, the GAC AION UT targets younger urban drivers looking for compact mobility without sacrificing interior space or tech features.
Key positioning highlights include a compact EV hatchback designed for city driving, a focus on design-led urban mobility, and a global rollout ahead of its Philippine launch.
Milan-inspired design with compact but flexible interior
The GAC AION UT was designed by GAC with what it calls “Milanese aesthetics,” combining European-inspired styling with a playful urban identity. The exterior features distinctive lighting elements and bold color options aimed at standing out in city environments.

Despite its compact form, the GAC AION UT uses a 2,750mm wheelbase to maximize interior space. The cabin layout prioritizes practicality for everyday use and lifestyle flexibility.
Interior features include a 5-seater configuration with expanded cabin space, flat-folding rear seats for cargo flexibility, and adaptable storage for travel, shopping, and daily commuting.
GAC positions the model as suitable for both daily urban driving and occasional out-of-town trips, addressing a common limitation in compact EV segments.
EV performance, battery tech, and fast charging capability
The GAC AION UT is equipped with GAC’s “Magazine Battery” system, designed for safety and durability. The vehicle also features a high-strength steel body structure to support crash protection standards.
Charging performance is one of its key highlights, with the GAC AION UT capable of charging from 30% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes under fast-charging conditions.
Core EV features include GAC Magazine Battery safety technology, high-strength body construction, and fast charging (30%–80% in ~24 minutes).
Market expansion and Philippine EV strategy
GAC continues to expand its Philippine footprint with support from its dealership network, aftersales infrastructure, and EV warranty coverage. The company currently operates 30 dealerships nationwide and maintains a dedicated parts warehouse in Manila.
For EV buyers, GAC offers an 8-year / 160,000 km vehicle warranty for EV models, an 8-year / 200,000 km warranty for electric system components, and 2 years of free roadside assistance.
This ownership package positions GAC competitively in the Philippine EV space, where reliability and aftersales support remain key consumer concerns.
As the Philippine EV market continues to grow, the AION UT enters a segment increasingly populated by Chinese and global automakers pushing affordable electric mobility.
With its mix of design-focused styling, practical interior space, and fast-charging capability, the AION UT targets the compact EV category for urban Filipino drivers shifting toward electric mobility.
