vivo V70 showcases ZEISS multifocal portrait system in fashion photography masterclass

vivo pushes its imaging strategy deeper into professional-grade mobile photography with the vivo V70, showcasing how smartphone cameras can replicate multi-lens fashion shoots in a single device.

The demonstration took place during a photography masterclass led by Filipino fashion photographer BJ Pascual, where the focus centered on ZEISS co-engineered optics and multi-focal portrait capabilities.

The session highlighted how smartphone photography is evolving beyond casual use, positioning devices like the vivo V70 as creative tools for editorial, portrait, and studio-style work.

ZEISS multifocal system brings studio-style portrait control

At the center of the vivo V70 is its ZEISS multifocal portrait system, which introduces multiple focal lengths designed to replicate professional camera behavior across a smartphone setup. During the masterclass, BJ Pascual demonstrated how different focal lengths produce distinct visual styles in fashion photography.

The system is built around key portrait focal lengths, including an 85mm portrait mode that produces natural compression and flattering facial proportions, and a 100mm portrait mode that delivers tighter framing with stronger subject isolation. It also includes ZEISS Style Bokeh options such as Sonnar and Planar, designed to create more cinematic rendering styles.

ZEISS emphasizes how focal length selection directly affects mood, depth, and storytelling in portrait photography, a technique traditionally associated with interchangeable-lens cameras rather than smartphones.

AI Stage Mode expands from performance to editorial use

Beyond portrait focal lengths, the vivo V70 also features AI Stage Mode, originally designed for concerts and live events but demonstrated in the masterclass for editorial fashion shooting across multiple zoom levels.

The system supports multi-distance framing, including 1x through the main camera for environmental portraits with natural depth and balanced lighting, 3x telephoto for stronger subject separation suited to street-style framing, and 10x super telephoto for AI-enhanced long-range capture that highlights fine facial details.

By combining ZEISS optics with AI-driven processing, the system allows users to switch perspectives seamlessly without changing lenses or devices, streamlining production workflows for mobile content creators.

Mobile photography shifts toward professional creative workflows

The vivo V70’s positioning reflects a broader shift in smartphone imaging, where brands are increasingly targeting professional creators, not just casual users. Features like multi-focal portrait systems and AI-enhanced zoom are now being developed to simulate DSLR and mirrorless camera behavior.

During the live shoot, Pascual highlighted how mobile tools are becoming more capable in controlled creative environments, especially for fashion and editorial work where speed and flexibility matter.

The device’s real-time focal switching and computational imaging also reduce reliance on external gear, making it more viable for on-the-go production and social media-driven content workflows.

vivo expands ZEISS partnership in premium smartphone imaging

The V70 continues vivo’s collaboration with ZEISS, a long-term partnership focused on bringing optical-grade imaging to smartphones. This aligns with the growing competition among Android manufacturers to dominate mobile photography, especially in the premium mid-range and flagship segments.

With brands like Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi also investing heavily in computational photography, vivo’s strategy leans on optical branding and multi-lens simulation to differentiate its camera systems.

The vivo V70 is now available in the Philippines through official stores and online platforms, including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
