GAC Philippines highlights new energy vehicles at Auto Focus 2026

GAC Philippines is set to showcase its expanding electrified lineup at the Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival 2026, giving Filipino consumers a closer look at its latest hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs).

The display signals GAC’s continued push into the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment, a category gaining traction in the Philippines as fuel efficiency and sustainability become bigger priorities for buyers.

AION V and HYPTEC HT lead EV offerings

Headlining the lineup are two fully electric SUVs designed for different segments.

The GAC AION V targets urban mobility with a claimed range of over 600 km, supported by fast charging that can reach 80% in around 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, the GAC HYPTEC HT positions itself as a premium option, featuring:

  • Dual-stage gullwing doors
  • Nappa leather interior
  • Ultra-fast charging (up to 70% in 15 minutes)

These models reflect GAC’s effort to cover both practical EV use cases and high-end lifestyle segments.

GS8 HEV and EMKOO HEV expand hybrid portfolio

Alongside its EVs, GAC is also strengthening its hybrid lineup with two SUVs.

The GAC GS8 HEV integrates a 2.0T Mega Wave engine with the Toyota Hybrid System II, delivering 140 kW and 320 Nm of torque.

The GAC EMKOO HEV, on the other hand, uses a full parallel hybrid system and targets buyers looking for a more compact, design-forward option.

This dual approach—offering both EVs and hybrids—aligns with current market realities, where infrastructure gaps still make hybrids a practical transition technology.

Introductory pricing and event-exclusive offers

GAC Philippines is rolling out introductory pricing across its new energy vehicle lineup until May 31, 2026.

The GAC AION V is priced between ₱1.418 million and ₱1.598 million, while the GAC HYPTEC HT ranges from ₱2.16 million to ₱2.48 million. The GAC GS8 HEV is available at ₱2.338 million, and the GAC EMKOO HEV starts at ₱1.38 million.

Customers who reserve units during the event can also receive additional discounts of up to ₱20,000 through a partner financing offer.

Test drive events play key role in EV adoption

Events like the Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival, organized by Sunshine Television, are becoming increasingly important for EV adoption in the Philippines.

They allow potential buyers to experience EV and hybrid performance firsthand, understand charging and driving dynamics, and compare multiple brands in one venue.

For emerging segments like NEVs, hands-on exposure often plays a bigger role than traditional marketing.

GAC strengthens position in PH electrified vehicle market

GAC’s presence at the festival reflects a broader strategy to expand its footprint in the Philippine automotive market through electrification.

With a mix of long-range EVs and practical hybrid SUVs, the brand is positioning itself as a contender in a space where Japanese and Chinese automakers are rapidly increasing competition.

As infrastructure improves and incentives evolve, events like this—and the vehicles showcased—will help shape how quickly Filipino consumers transition to electrified mobility.
