Deck13 Spotlight and developer Datadyne have released a new trailer for Forge of the Fae, offering a closer look at the upcoming old-school JRPG and its magical Celtic-inspired setting.
The trailer arrives as development continues to progress on the project, marking a key milestone for the team and for players who supported the game during its crowdfunding campaign.
Alpha Build Sent to Kickstarter Backers
As part of this milestone, the developers have distributed the game’s alpha build to a select group of Kickstarter backers. The early version allows supporters to experience roughly the first third of the game, giving them an initial glimpse into the story, world, and combat systems.
The newly released trailer showcases several aspects of the game, including enemy encounters, boss battles, magical abilities, and a preview of one of the game’s combat music tracks.
A Story Inspired by 1800s Ireland
Forge of the Fae takes place in a world inspired by 1800s Ireland, blending Celtic mythology with fantasy storytelling. The narrative explores a growing conflict between humans and the fae as an ancient power begins to awaken.
Players follow Fiora, a young inventor who becomes entangled in the mysteries of her world. As the story unfolds, players will make decisions that shape the direction of the narrative and influence the outcome of the journey.
Classic JRPG Combat and Exploration
Drawing inspiration from classic Japanese role-playing games, Forge of the Fae features a turn-based combat system that emphasizes strategic planning.
Two core mechanics—the ARC Crystal System and Adrenaline—allow players to customize spells and abilities, giving them flexibility in how they approach battles. Beyond combat, the game also includes puzzle-solving elements scattered throughout the world, rewarding exploration with powerful items and hidden lore.
Release Planned for 2027
Forge of the Fae is currently scheduled to release in 2027 for PC and consoles. A free demo is already available through Steam, where players can also add the game to their wishlist.
The developers plan to share more gameplay footage and updates throughout the year as development continues.
