‘Battle of Fates’ becomes most-watched series premiere on Disney+ Korea
Supernatural reality competition Battle of Fates has become the most-watched series premiere of all time on Disney+ in Korea, surpassing the record previously set by the 2023 hit series Moving.
According to Disney+, the show also ranks as the number one series premiere of 2026 in the Asia-Pacific region, based on views recorded during its first 12 days on the platform. Following the show’s strong debut, the streaming service confirmed that local adaptations for other markets are now in development.
A supernatural competition built on divination
First released on February 11, Battle of Fates introduces a unique reality competition centered on practitioners of different divination traditions. The series brings together experts in shamanism, tarot reading, saju, face reading, and foot reading, among other practices, as they compete to demonstrate their predictive abilities.
Throughout the season, contestants face a series of challenges designed to test their intuition and interpretive skills. Using a mix of traditional tools and modern technology—ranging from spirit communication rituals and dowsing rods to laptops and analytical deduction—the participants attempt to deliver the most accurate readings to avoid elimination.
The competition begins with 49 participants, each representing different approaches to fortune reading. The series gradually narrows the field through multiple rounds until only one contestant remains.

Earlier this week, the season finale premiered on Disney+, revealing the contestant who ultimately earned the title of Korea’s top fate reader.
Expanding Disney+’s unscripted content lineup
The success of Battle of Fates adds to Disney+’s growing slate of unscripted and reality programming across Asia-Pacific.
Among the platform’s other titles are the sports competition series I Am Boxer and the variety program The Zone: Survival Mission. The platform also features My Name Is Gabriel, which includes appearances by Jennie of BLACKPINK.
Disney+ is also preparing additional unscripted titles set to release later this year, including the travel docuseries Travis Japan Summer Vacation!! in the USA, which follows the members of Travis Japan during a trip across the United States.
Another upcoming title is Daigo Project, which will mark the platform’s first original Japanese variety show.
With Battle of Fates breaking viewership records in Korea and gaining traction across the region, Disney+ continues to expand its lineup of Asian unscripted content aimed at global streaming audiences.
