Cyberzone Collects Over 14K Kilograms of E-Waste Through Mall Drop-Off Program
Cyberzone has collected more than 14,000 kilograms of electronic waste through its nationwide e-waste disposal program, making responsible gadget disposal more accessible by placing drop-off points inside SM Supermalls.
Launched in June 2024, the initiative is a partnership between Cyberzone, SM Cares, Smart Communications, and PLDT Home. It aims to encourage safer e-waste disposal by integrating collection bins into high-traffic mall locations, particularly within Cyberzone areas.
Making E-Waste Disposal Part of Everyday Mall Visits
Across participating SM Supermalls, dedicated e-waste collection bins provide mallgoers with a clear and convenient option for disposing of old or broken electronic devices. By situating the drop-off points where people already shop for tech, the program lowers barriers to responsible disposal and reduces the likelihood of e-waste ending up in homes or landfills.
The bins are designed to accept commonly discarded gadgets, helping ensure that electronic waste is routed through proper handling and disposal processes rather than informal or unsafe channels.
Over 14,000 Kilograms Collected Nationwide

Since its rollout, Cyberzone’s e-waste collection program has gathered a total of 14,327 kilograms of electronic waste across 89 SM Supermalls. Of these locations, 69 drop-off points are situated within Cyberzone areas.
According to Cyberzone, the collected materials are properly segregated to support responsible recycling and disposal. The scale of the collection reflects growing participation from mall communities, supported by consistent access to clearly marked drop-off points.
Industry and Community Responsibility
Patrick Pacla, Vice President for Cyberzone Operations and Marketing at SM Supermalls, said the initiative reflects the evolving responsibility of tech retailers as device turnover accelerates.
“We take pride in being the go-to tech destination for shoppers,” Pacla said. “But as gadgets evolve, so does the need to dispose of old electronics responsibly. Everyone has a role to play, and Cyberzone is committed to making it simpler and safer to do the right thing.”
Expanding Sustainability Efforts Through Partnerships
Cyberzone and SM Cares said the program will continue to expand as new malls open, with additional e-waste collection bins planned across future SM Supermall locations. The initiative supports SM’s broader sustainability goals, including its #SMWasteFreeFuture campaign.
Drop-off points are currently available in select Cyberzone branches and SM Supermalls nationwide, reinforcing the role of malls as accessible hubs for community-led environmental action.
