HUAWEI Mate X7 Set for Philippine Launch on February 19

HUAWEI Philippines is set to launch the Mate X7 on February 19, expanding its foldable smartphone lineup with a device focused on durability, camera performance, and large-screen productivity.

The Mate X7 arrives as the company continues to refine its foldable designs, following earlier releases such as the Mate X, Mate X2, Mate X3, and more recent experimental form factors like the tri-fold Mate XT and wide-folding Pura X.

HUAWEI’s Foldable Lineup Continues to Evolve

HUAWEI first entered the foldable smartphone market in 2019 with the outward-folding Mate X. The brand later shifted to inward-folding designs with the Mate X2 and Mate X3, introducing slimmer profiles and improved hinge mechanisms. In recent years, HUAWEI has explored new form factors, including tri-fold and wide-folding devices, positioning itself as one of the most active manufacturers in the foldable segment.

According to the company, the Mate X7 builds on this experience with further refinements in structure, display technology, and imaging.

Design and Durability Features

The HUAWEI Mate X7 features a slim foldable form finished in vegan leather, paired with a redesigned camera module referred to as the Time-Space Gate design. The device will be available locally in Nebula Red and Black.

Durability is a central focus of the Mate X7. Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass protects the outer display, while a multi-layer composite structure reinforces the inner screen to withstand repeated folding. The device also features an Advanced Precision Hinge and an aviation-grade aluminum middle frame, which HUAWEI says improves resistance to drops in both folded and unfolded states.

The Mate X7 carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance, offering protection against splashes, high-temperature water exposure, and limited submersion.

Camera System and Imaging Capabilities

HUAWEI is positioning the Mate X7 as a camera-focused foldable smartphone. The device features a True-to-Colour Camera system, which the company says delivers improved color accuracy compared to previous models.

The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel Ultra Lighting HDR main camera designed to enhance clarity in varied lighting conditions, alongside a 50-megapixel telephoto macro camera that supports both close-up photography and long-range zoom. HUAWEI says these upgrades aim to bring flagship-level imaging performance to a foldable device.

Displays and Multitasking Experience

The Mate X7 features a 6.49-inch LTPO outer display with a 2444 x 1080 resolution, while the inner folding display measures 8 inches with a resolution of 2416 x 2210. The larger internal screen supports multi-window multitasking, allowing users to run up to three applications simultaneously.

HUAWEI says the display setup is designed to support productivity tasks, media consumption, and everyday use across both folded and unfolded modes.

Battery, Charging, and App Ecosystem

A 5,600mAh silicon-carbon anode battery powers the device, which supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

HUAWEI said the Mate X7 will run on its AppGallery ecosystem, with support for commonly used applications in the Philippines. These includes financial services and ride-hailing platforms.

Launch Details in the Philippines

The HUAWEI Mate X7 will officially launch in the Philippines on February 19, alongside other new devices including the MatePad 11.5 S (2026) and FreeClip 2. Local pricing has not yet been announced.
