GAC Philippines has been named the 2026 Breakthrough Brand – Automotive by Kantar BrandZ, recognizing the automaker’s growing consumer presence and market expansion in the Philippines.
The recognition was announced as part of Kantar’s 2026 BrandZ Spotlight on Philippine Brands report. GAC and Toyota were the two automotive brands recognized during this year’s awards, with GAC receiving the breakthrough brand distinction.
GAC gains recognition as EV interest grows
Kantar Philippines’ data points to growing interest in electrified vehicles as the local automotive market shifts toward new-energy mobility.
Electrified vehicles accounted for 15.3% of new vehicle sales recorded by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines and the Truck Manufacturers Association (CAMPI-TMA) during the first half of 2026.
A separate Kantar consumer survey conducted in April 2026 found that 74% of respondents would consider purchasing an EV.
GAC said its BrandZ recognition was driven by its consumer connection, brand differentiation, market relevance, and growth potential as it expands its electrified vehicle lineup in the country.
“Being named the 2026 Breakthrough Brand – Automotive reflects our rapid strides in the market and our commitment to empowering Filipinos with cutting-edge mobility technology through our new energy lineup,” said Calvin Cheng, General Manager of GAC Philippines.

GAC reorganizes Philippine operations
The BrandZ recognition comes months after GAC Philippines completed a strategic reorganization, becoming a wholly owned local subsidiary under GAC International.
The company now operates under its “ONE GAC” philosophy, bringing GAC MOTOR, AION, and HYPTEC under a unified structure.
GAC said the centralized setup is intended to streamline sales operations, strengthen aftersales support, and improve coordination across its nationwide dealer network.
The company currently has 30 dealerships in the Philippines, alongside a dedicated parts warehouse and two years of free roadside assistance.
GAC expands its electrified vehicle lineup
The company’s Philippine lineup currently covers internal-combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles.
