Samsung begins One UI 9 rollout with new Galaxy AI features

Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9 to more Galaxy devices, bringing new Galaxy AI features, personalization tools, productivity improvements, and security updates to compatible smartphones.

The rollout started September 16 with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, following the software’s debut on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8.

One UI 9 adds new Galaxy AI features

One UI 9 introduces several features designed to help users capture and manage content with fewer manual steps.

My FanCam automatically tracks a selected person in recorded video and keeps them centered as the scene changes. The feature can reframe footage around a specific subject, such as a performer, friend, or athlete.

Samsung is also expanding Now Brief with Generative and Editable Cards. Users can create cards covering areas such as health, weather, and video, allowing them to customize the information shown in their daily summaries.

The new Warranty and Care feature brings device support into Settings, where users can check warranty coverage for connected mobile devices, run self-diagnostics, view repair estimates, manage Samsung Care+, and book service appointments.

More ways to work across apps

One UI 9 also adds context-aware features designed to help users act on information without leaving their current task.

Now Nudge can surface relevant suggestions based on what users are doing. For example, while discussing plans through messages, it can surface reservation details or help save a shared location without requiring users to switch applications.

Creative Studio can also suggest image-generation ideas based on upcoming events, such as creating a themed image or greeting for a friend’s birthday.

Samsung is further updating Interpreter with a new Thread View, allowing users to reference previous exchanges during translated conversations. Conversation Mode also gets faster translation, while compatible Galaxy Buds can provide quicker playback.

For document scanning, One UI 9 can digitize difficult materials such as curved book pages and folded corners with less manual adjustment. Compatible large-screen Galaxy devices also receive optimized scanning views and an improved Finger Eraser.

Voice Recorder now presents summaries in a more structured format, using elements such as headings and tables to make recorded information easier to review.

One UI 9 adds new privacy and security tools

Samsung is also adding features intended to give users more visibility into potential security and privacy issues.

Security Brief surfaces security and privacy information through Now Brief, including alerts related to malware, apps from unknown sources, and unnecessary permissions.

Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts by apps to access permissions in the background.

Samsung is also expanding Scam Detection to additional countries and languages, extending protection against potential scam calls to more supported Galaxy users.

The One UI 9 rollout will continue expanding to additional compatible Galaxy devices, with availability depending on the device and market.
