Lenovo is developing an Intelligent Command Center (ICC) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, providing FIFA with a centralized platform to monitor and coordinate operations across what will be the tournament’s largest edition to date.
The ICC is designed to give tournament officials a real-time operational view of activities across 16 host cities in three countries, helping streamline decision-making during the expanded competition.
Supporting the biggest FIFA World Cup yet
The 2026 FIFA World Cup introduced a new tournament format featuring 48 national teams, 104 matches, 16 host cities, and three host countries.
With tournament operations spread across North America, FIFA requires a system capable of consolidating information from multiple venues into a single operational platform.
According to Lenovo, the ICC aggregates data from various operational systems into a unified dashboard, enabling officials to monitor venue activities and tournament-wide developments in real time.
A centralized view for FIFA’s Tournament Operations Center
The Intelligent Command Center will serve as a core component of FIFA’s Tournament Operations Center (TOC) in Miami.
Large displays inside the operations center will provide live updates and alerts, while operational data will also be accessible through Lenovo tablets and mobile devices used by authorized personnel.
Instead of relying on separate systems across different functional teams, the ICC is intended to create a shared operational picture, helping decision-makers respond more quickly to emerging situations.
Improving coordination across venues
According to Lenovo, the platform is designed to improve communication between operational teams throughout the tournament.
By consolidating information into a single interface, FIFA officials can monitor operations across all host cities, identify potential disruptions earlier, coordinate responses using shared real-time data, analyze trends across multiple venues, and conduct post-match operational reviews.
Lenovo added that the platform also supports scenario planning before matches and post-event analysis, helping tournament organizers refine operations as the competition progresses.
Lenovo’s role in the project
Lenovo is responsible for designing and building the Intelligent Command Center platform, including integrating operational data, dashboards, and decision-support tools.
The company says it is working alongside FIFA’s operations teams to ensure the system delivers a consistent, real-time view of tournament activities while meeting the organization’s operational requirements for the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup.
