KIS4 to Bring Indonesian Culture to Global Stage

Honor of Kings Invitational Season 4 will open its 2026 international esports calendar in Jakarta with a culturally driven Grand Finals event on February 8, blending competitive gaming with Indonesian heritage through Wayang-inspired performances, traditional dance, and live music.

Set at the GBK Basketball Hall, the KIS4 Grand Finals marks the first global Honor of Kings tournament of the year. Organizers have positioned the event as both a competitive milestone and a cultural showcase, highlighting Southeast Asia’s growing role in the global Honor of Kings ecosystem. Indonesian singer Afgan is also set to headline a special half-time performance during the Finals.

Wayang Kulit Collaboration Showcased Through Museum Exhibition

Ahead of the Finals, Honor of Kings collaborated with the Indonesian National Museum to introduce the Wukong skin “Anoman,” inspired by traditional Wayang Kulit storytelling. The collaboration ran from January 29 to February 1 through a dedicated exhibition at the museum.

The exhibition featured Wayang displays alongside ImersifA, an installation highlighting the intersection of cultural heritage and digital art. Giring Ganesha, Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Culture, attended the exhibition’s opening ceremony, underscoring the project’s cultural significance.

Opening Ceremony Highlights Indonesian Heritage

The KIS4 Opening Ceremony is set to feature a structured cultural program designed to reflect Indonesian identity while welcoming international teams and viewers. The ceremony will begin with a message from Dean Huang, Game Producer of Honor of Kings at TiMi Studio Group, followed by remarks from Ganesha and the Esports Federation of Indonesia.

Cultural performances will include a Wayang-inspired stage production that reinterprets traditional narratives through modern choreography and lighting, alongside a Kecak Dance segment. Live performances of the official KIS4 theme song by Mukarakat and Indahkus will also be part of the program.

In a symbolic sequence, an Anoman-themed Wukong cosplay will carry the KIS4 trophy onto the stage, leading into the official team walk-ins that will signal the start of the Grand Finals.

Afgan to Headline KIS4 Half-Time Show

Afgan will headline the KIS4 half-time show, performing three songs—“Panah Asmara,” “Sampai Jumpa,” and “Kacamata.” The performance will serve as a major entertainment centerpiece, bridging live music and esports for on-site attendees and global viewers.

In addition, Honor of Kings is running in-game fan activities in Indonesia until February 6, offering players a chance to win exclusive Afgan merchandise and VIP tickets to the KIS4 Finals.
