Acer is giving its Vero laptop lineup a major redesign with the Acer Vero 16, combining a more repair-friendly chassis with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and a 16-inch 3K OLED display.
Announced at Acer’s next@acer global press conference in Berlin, the fourth-generation Vero consumer laptop puts repairability and longer product lifespans at the center of its design while adding on-device AI capabilities expected from a modern Copilot+ PC.
Acer Vero 16 makes repairability a core feature
The Vero 16 expands Acer’s sustainability approach beyond recycled materials by introducing what the company describes as a 4R design philosophy: reduce, reuse, recycle, and repair.
The laptop’s top and palm-rest covers use 50% post-industrial recycled (PIR) aluminum and 50% low-carbon aluminum. Its bottom cover contains 60% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, while the display bezels use 30% PCR plastic.
Repairing or upgrading the Vero 16 is also designed to be less complicated. A tool-free access latch on the bottom cover provides easier access to internal components, while the battery and SSD can be replaced by users.
Acer also designed the laptop with a detachable external hinge and removable I/O port covers to simplify repairs. An engraved visual guide on the chassis provides additional guidance when servicing the device.
The company says the Vero 16 is also designed to support processor upgrades for at least two generations, potentially extending the useful life of the machine beyond its initial configuration.
Recycled materials meet a MIL-STD-810H chassis
The Vero 16 uses a MIL-STD-810H-certified chassis and a solvent-free powder-coated finish.
The coating is intended to reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions compared with conventional paint while improving resistance to wear.
Acer is also continuing its packaging efforts with 100% recyclable packaging made from recycled materials.
These design choices make the Vero 16 less about simply using recycled materials and more about addressing what happens to a laptop throughout its entire lifecycle—from manufacturing and ownership to repairs and eventual replacement.
Intel Core Ultra X9 powers up to 180 TOPS
The sustainability-focused design does not mean Acer is compromising on performance.
The Vero 16 can be configured with an Intel Core Ultra X9 processor 388H, delivering up to 180 platform TOPS for AI workloads. It also comes with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and 512GB of SSD storage, paired with a 71Wh battery designed to balance performance with all-day productivity.
For visuals, select configurations feature a 16-inch 3K OLED WQXGA+ display, providing a high-resolution panel for productivity, content creation, and entertainment.
A 5MP IR camera with a physical privacy shutter handles video calls while supporting Windows security features. The laptop also includes Intel Wi-Fi 7, a MIL-STD-810H-certified chassis, and Windows 11 as a Copilot+ PC.
Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7 handle connectivity
The Vero 16 includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, alongside two USB Type-A ports. One USB-A port uses USB 3.2 Gen 1, while the other supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 and power-off charging.
An HDMI 2.1 port with HDCP and an SD card reader provide additional connectivity for external displays, cameras, and other peripherals.
Wireless connectivity comes through Intel Wi-Fi 7, giving the laptop access to newer high-speed wireless networking standards.
Acer also adds a backlit keyboard with a customizable MyKey button that can launch applications, websites, or Windows features.
Copilot+ features add on-device AI
As a Windows 11 Copilot+ PC, the Vero 16 supports Microsoft’s suite of on-device AI features, including Click to Do, Cocreator, Live Captions with translation, and Windows Studio Effects.
Acer’s own AI tools add another layer of functionality. Acer PurifiedView uses AI camera enhancements for video calls, while Acer PurifiedVoice uses AI noise reduction to minimize background noise.
The AcerSense utility provides quick access to performance modes, battery and storage optimization, system monitoring, and AI collaboration features.
The laptop can also handle practical AI-assisted functions such as QR code scanning, image generation, video playback speed adjustments, and magnifying small text or images.
The Acer Vero 16 is scheduled to launch in EMEA in Q1 2027. It has not yet announced Philippine pricing or availability. The company notes that exact specifications, configurations, prices, and release schedules will vary by market.
