Acer Launches Predator Atlas 8 Handheld Gaming PC Powered by New Intel Arc G-Series Chips

Acer has expanded its handheld gaming portfolio with the introduction of the Predator Atlas 8, a new Windows 11-based gaming handheld powered by Intel’s latest Arc G-Series processors.

Announced at Computex 2026, the Predator Atlas 8 marks Acer’s latest push into the growing handheld gaming market, a segment currently dominated by devices such as the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw.

The new device combines PC gaming capabilities with a portable form factor, featuring dedicated graphics, advanced cooling, and support for Xbox Game Pass.

Predator Atlas 8 debuts Intel Arc G-Series handheld platform

The Predator Atlas 8 is among the first devices to feature Intel’s new Arc G-Series processors, designed specifically for gaming handhelds.

Users can configure the handheld with up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 graphics, alongside hardware ray tracing support and Intel XeSS 3 AI-powered upscaling technology.

According to Acer, the combination aims to deliver smoother gameplay and improved visual quality while maintaining efficiency within the power constraints of a handheld device.

Intel XeSS 3 uses AI-assisted upscaling to boost frame rates and reduce performance drops during graphically demanding games, a feature that is increasingly becoming standard across modern gaming hardware.

80Wh battery and Intel Endurance Gaming target longer play sessions

Battery life remains one of the biggest challenges for gaming handhelds, especially when running modern AAA titles.

To address this, Acer equipped the Predator Atlas 8 with an 80Wh battery, one of the larger battery capacities currently available in the handheld gaming category.

The device also supports Intel Endurance Gaming technology, which dynamically balances performance and power consumption to extend gaming sessions without significantly impacting gameplay quality.

While Acer has not disclosed exact battery runtime figures, the combination of a large battery and power management features suggests a focus on longer untethered gaming sessions.

Predator AeroBlade cooling brings laptop technology to handheld gaming

Thermal management plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent handheld gaming performance, and Acer is bringing technology from its Predator laptop lineup into the Predator Atlas 8.

The handheld features a dual-fan cooling system, including what Acer says is the first metal fan used in a gaming handheld. It also incorporates a Predator AeroBlade fan with 89 ultra-thin blades and Vortex Flow airflow optimization.

Acer claims the metal AeroBlade fan improves airflow by up to 10% compared to conventional designs. The system works alongside internal airflow channels that help move heat away from critical components during extended gaming sessions.

The cooling solution is designed to reduce thermal throttling and maintain stable performance under sustained workloads.

8-inch 120Hz display focuses on smooth gameplay

The Predator Atlas 8 features an 8-inch WUXGA touchscreen display designed for fast-paced gaming.

Display specifications include a 1920 × 1200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support, 500 nits peak brightness, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

The inclusion of VRR support helps reduce screen tearing and improve visual smoothness across a wider range of frame rates, particularly in demanding games where performance may fluctuate.

The taller 16:10 aspect ratio also provides additional screen space compared to traditional 16:9 displays, benefiting both gaming and productivity tasks.

Windows 11, Xbox Game Pass, and customizable controls

Unlike dedicated gaming consoles, the Predator Atlas 8 runs a full version of Windows 11, allowing users to access multiple game launchers and services.

Key gaming features include Xbox Mode integration, Xbox Game Pass support, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, UHS-II microSD expansion, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Acer has also focused on customizable controls. The handheld features full-size analog sticks and adaptive trigger functionality that can switch between two modes: micro-switch mode for fast-response shooters and Hall-effect analog mode for racing and simulation games.

This approach gives players greater flexibility depending on the genre they are playing.

PredatorSense comes to handheld gaming

For the first time, Acer is bringing its PredatorSense software suite to a handheld device.

PredatorSense allows users to monitor system performance, switch performance profiles, adjust RGB lighting, access gaming settings, and manage thermal controls.

A dedicated PredatorSense button provides quick access to these settings during gameplay, reducing the need to navigate through Windows menus.

With this integration, Acer strengthens its position in the handheld gaming market by bringing its broader Predator ecosystem into a portable form factor.
