Battery-focused smartphones often come with a tradeoff: thicker bodies, heavier builds, and bulkier designs. TECNO Mobile is trying to challenge that formula with the launch of the TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G in the Philippines.
The new mid-range 5G smartphone pairs an unusually large 8,000mAh battery with a body measuring just 7.42mm thin and weighing 195g, making it one of the slimmest smartphones in its category to carry that battery capacity.
TECNO officially launched the device nationwide on May 23, positioning it around the idea of uninterrupted usage and stronger mobile connectivity for Filipino users constantly on the move.
TECNO focuses on endurance and connectivity
The biggest story around the TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G is clearly battery life under TECNO.
The company claims the device can deliver up to three days of typical usage on a single charge, alongside 103.4 hours of music playback, 33.8 hours of navigation, 18.8 hours of gaming, and up to 72 hours of continuous use.
To reduce charging downtime, the device supports 45W fast charging, capable of reaching 50% battery in 36 minutes.
The phone also introduces Bypass Charging 2.0, which powers the device directly from the charger during heavy gaming or streaming sessions instead of routing energy through the battery, helping reduce heat buildup and long-term battery wear.
TECNO also includes 10W reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to function as an emergency power bank for smaller devices.

The POVA Curve 2 5G targets real-world signal problems
Rather than focusing purely on performance numbers, TECNO is also positioning the device around connectivity reliability — a practical concern for many Filipino users dealing with weak indoor signals, crowded transport systems, and inconsistent mobile coverage.
The POVA Curve 2 5G uses TECNO’s self-developed G1 signal enhancement chipset alongside an SE1 Wi-Fi enhancement chip and UPS 3.0 optimization system.
According to the company, the phone now supports 20 5G bands, doubling the previous generation’s support. TECNO says the upgrades improve upload speeds by up to 70% while reducing network latency by 33%.
The device also integrates what TECNO calls a “Hyper Antenna Matrix,” designed to improve reception strength in difficult environments like elevators, parking structures, and transit systems.
A gaming-focused display and mid-range hardware package
The TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor built on a 6nm process. They say the device can reach up to 850,000 points on AnTuTu benchmarks, positioning it competitively within the mid-range gaming segment.
The smartphone also features a 6.78-inch curved FHD+ AMOLED display, 144Hz refresh rate, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

For cameras, it includes a 50MP main rear camera, 2MP macro sensor, and 13MP selfie camera with up to 4K video recording support. Additional features include Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, IP64 dust and splash resistance, SGS-certified drop protection, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and FreeLink 2.0 offline communication support within 1.5 kilometers.
The device runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and includes integrated AI-powered tools.
Pricing and availability in the Philippines
The TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G comes in Mystic Purple, Melting Silver, and Storm Titanium color options.
The device is priced at PHP 16,999 for the 16GB + 256GB configuration, which includes 8GB of extended virtual RAM.
TECNO says every purchase also includes a TECNO Gift Box and a customized Globe Telecom 5G SIM card with bundled UNLI5G access and free data for one year.
The phone is now available through TECNO concept stores and authorized retail partners nationwide, with an online first sale scheduled on TikTok Shop starting May 26.
