TCL has opened the TCL Industrial Museum in Huizhou, China, marking its 45th anniversary at the city where the company was founded in 1981.
Built on the former factory site of TCL’s predecessor, TTK, the museum traces the company’s evolution alongside the development of China’s electronics industry. Its collections span early manufacturing, television history, display technology and the company’s expansion into new businesses.
The museum covers more than 23,000 square meters, including over 9,000 square meters of exhibition space. TCL says it houses more than 3,000 curated items across six exhibition halls and a central atrium.
From early televisions to printed OLED displays
The museum’s exhibits document key stages in the development of electronics, with items including a 1920s Nipkow mechanical scanning disk, China’s first television set and the country’s first commercial computer.
The collection also reaches into modern display technology. One featured item is what TCL describes as the world’s first mass-produced printed OLED 4K display, developed by TCL CSOT in 2024. A separate television gallery contains more than 100 vintage television sets from around the world.
Beyond individual products, the exhibitions trace TCL’s shift from early manufacturing into display panels, smart devices and clean energy, reflecting changes in both its business and the wider technology industry.
“The TCL Industrial Museum is not only about preserving the journey behind us, but also about inspiring the journey ahead,” said Li Dongsheng, founder and chairman of TCL.
“Over the past 45 years, TCL has grown through entrepreneurship, transformation and innovation. As we enter a new chapter, we will carry forward the same boldness and commitment to create new possibilities for the future,” he added.
TCL’s 2019 restructuring shaped its business today

A major turning point in TCL’s corporate history came in 2019, when the company established TCL Technology and TCL Industries as independently operated entities.
TCL Technology focuses on display technology and new energy, while TCL Industries handles smart devices and services. According to company figures, both businesses grew their revenue between 2019 and 2025.
TCL Technology’s revenue rose from approximately US$8.4 billion to US$27 billion during that period. TCL Industries increased its revenue from US$11.7 billion to around US$24.9 billion.
The company also points to its position in several global markets. TCL says its TVs ranked second worldwide by shipment volume in 2025, while TCL CSOT held the second-largest share of the global TV panel market, citing Omdia. TCL further identifies TCL Zhonghuan as the world’s largest producer of solar-grade silicon crystals and a major supplier of silicon wafers.
These milestones form part of the museum’s broader account of how the company has expanded beyond consumer electronics into the technologies and components behind modern devices.
Museum looks back as TCL plans its next phase
TCL is using its 45th anniversary to highlight both its industrial history and its current international reach. The company was named among TIME’s World’s Best Companies in 2026, according to TCL, and is a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner in the Home Audiovisual Equipment and Home Appliances category.
Its initiatives include TCLArt, TCLforHer, TCLGreen and TCLYoung, which the company associates with culture, social engagement, sustainability and younger generations.
TCL says it now operates in more than 160 countries and regions, supported by 50 research and development centers and 47 manufacturing bases worldwide. Its businesses span televisions, smartphones, audio products, smart home devices, display technologies and clean energy.
By placing the museum at its original factory site, TCL connects these global operations to its beginnings in Huizhou. The collection serves as a record of the company’s transformation over four and a half decades, while placing that history within the wider evolution of the electronics industry.
