Garmin will launch the Approach S72 golf smartwatch in the Philippines on October 22 for ₱52,990, bringing green-reading tools, on-wrist swing metrics and golf-specific performance tracking to its latest flagship wearable.
Available in 43mm and 47mm sizes, the watch combines AMOLED displays with health monitoring and everyday smartwatch features, including phone calls, voice commands and a built-in flashlight.
Approach S72 adds green-reading and swing data
The Approach S72 tracks swing-related metrics such as hand speed, backswing length and wrist rotation, giving golfers data they can review when working on their technique.
Its green contour feature shows the expected break of a putt and the average slope percentage to help players choose an aim point. Access to this feature, along with putting analytics and aerial imagery, requires an active Garmin Golf Membership.
The watch also tracks driving-range practice sessions, which users can review through the Garmin Connect app. After a round, the Garmin Golf app provides putting statistics such as speed bias, direction bias and make rate.
For course management, aerial imagery gives players a view of each hole to help assess layup options and potential miss areas.
Heart-rate tracking extends to the course
The Approach S72 can record real-time heart-rate data during play, allowing golfers to compare readings before and after shots. A post-round view can also display heart-rate trends alongside scoring information.
Beyond golf, the watch includes stress tracking, Body Battery energy monitoring, advanced sleep monitoring and preloaded activity profiles for strength and mobility exercises.
Garmin notes that its heart-rate feature is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose or monitor medical conditions.
Titanium bezel, sapphire lens and built-in flashlight
The watch pairs a titanium bezel with a sapphire lens and a ComfortFit fabric band. It also has a speaker and microphone for phone calls and basic voice-command functions.
A built-in flashlight offers variable-intensity white light and a red-light option.
Garmin rates the larger model for up to 20 hours of battery life during course use and up to 16 days with GPS turned off. Actual battery life will depend on usage and settings.
The Garmin Approach S72 will be available in the Philippines for ₱52,990. Buyers can get the golf smartwatch through Garmin.com, Garmin Brand Stores, Garmin Specialty Stores and the brand’s official e-commerce platforms.
