Once Human Launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 25 with Crossplay and New First-Person Mode

Once Human is officially making its console debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 25, bringing the post-apocalyptic survival game to a new audience with full crossplay, cross-progression, and a brand-new first-person perspective.

Developer Starry Studio and publisher NetEase Games also opened pre-orders today, offering platform-exclusive reward packs for early buyers.

First-person mode headlines the console launch

The biggest addition arriving alongside the console release of Once Human is the new First-Person Perspective, allowing players to switch freely between first-person and third-person views at any time.

The feature launches simultaneously on consoles and is designed to make exploration and combat feel more immersive, particularly on larger 4K displays.

Beyond the new camera option, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions include a Quality Mode supporting up to 4K at 60 FPS, a Performance Mode supporting up to 120 FPS, controller-specific haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects, and enhanced vibration during combat, boss encounters, and item collection.

Console players gain access to over 300 hours of content

Once Human is a free-to-play survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world corrupted by the mysterious Stardust phenomenon.

Players explore multiple standalone Scenarios, each featuring distinct environments, objectives, and gameplay mechanics while gathering resources, constructing bases, battling mutated creatures, and harnessing anomalies to survive.

At launch, console players will have access to six survival Scenarios, one PvP spin-off mode, and more than 300 hours of gameplay content.

The game also supports full crossplay and cross-progression, allowing players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S to play together while carrying their progress across supported platforms.

Pre-orders include exclusive cosmetic rewards

Pre-orders for Once Human are now available through the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, with two optional reward bundles.

The Starter Pack, priced at $9.99, includes the Black Gold Butterfly cradle skin, three Midnight Rave weapon skins, a 30-day MetaPass, a home facility skin, and exclusive profile customization items.

Meanwhile, the Radiance Pack, priced at $14.99, offers an outfit selection featuring three character skins, a Premium Battle Pass, a 30-day MetaPass, two Siderite lottery tokens, and an exclusive avatar frame.

According to the developer, the cosmetic rewards vary slightly between the PlayStation and Xbox versions through platform-exclusive items.

Once Human expands beyond PC

Originally released on PC, Once Human has steadily expanded its content through new Scenarios, gameplay systems, and seasonal updates. The August 25 console launch marks the game’s biggest platform expansion yet, bringing its survival gameplay to PlayStation and Xbox players while keeping the entire community connected through cross-platform play.
