vivo has officially introduced OriginOS 7, its latest smartphone operating system with new multitasking tools, AI-assisted features, cross-device connectivity, and system performance improvements.
Unveiled in Shanghai on September 21, 2026, OriginOS 7 introduces the next-generation Origin Smooth Engine, a new Origin Workbench for coordinating up to five applications, and Jovi, vivo’s personal AI agent.
The operating system will be available on the vivo X500 Series, as well as new X Fold and V Series devices. vivo has not yet announced specific Philippine availability.
OriginOS 7 targets faster system performance
OriginOS 7 introduces the next-generation Origin Smooth Engine, which manages graphics computation, memory, and system scheduling to allocate resources based on workload.
Its Ultra-Core Computing system dynamically distributes processing resources across activities such as gaming, multitasking, and extended video playback.
According to vivo’s internal testing, OriginOS 7 delivers 10% faster app cold starts and 11% faster app page switching. The system also provides 60% greater memory reclamation through Memory Fusion, while vivo says users can free up up to 25GB of additional storage on a 256GB device under its test conditions.
vivo also reports a 14.4% improvement in rendering efficiency through Dual Rendering.
To assess long-term performance, vivo says it subjected OriginOS 7 to a 72-month anti-aging test in its laboratories, evaluating how the system performs over an extended period of use.
Origin Workbench puts five apps in one workspace
One of the biggest interface changes is Origin Workbench, which allows users to coordinate up to five active applications within a unified task space.
Rather than switching between separate app screens, users can work across documents, notes, messages, and other applications within the same workspace.
OriginOS 7 also introduces Origin Animation, which uses physics-inspired animations for system interactions.
Its Fluid Motion and Spring Animation features adjust how interface elements move during touch interactions, while Seamless Interaction is designed to improve scrolling across supported system and third-party applications.
Jovi brings AI-assisted tasks to vivo devices
OriginOS 7 introduces Jovi, vivo’s personal AI agent for tasks across supported smartphones and PCs.
Through vivo Office Kit, Jovi can retrieve files from a connected computer, summarize information, and surface relevant information on a smartphone. Users can also set recurring tasks depending on feature and device availability.
Another productivity feature, Snap Note, uses structural recognition to convert photographs of whiteboards, handwritten notes, and presentation slides into editable documents.
vivo also says Jovi Security records autonomous actions and requires direct user authorization for key steps.
OriginOS 7 connects vivo phones with Apple devices and PCs
vivo is expanding connectivity beyond its own hardware ecosystem.
Supported Apple Watch connections can provide notifications and synchronize selected workout and health information with Origin Health. AirPods can also display battery information through Origin Island and support Spatial Audio on compatible devices and in supported regions.
Meanwhile, vivo Office Kit allows supported vivo phones to connect with iPad, Mac, and Windows PCs for task handoffs, note synchronization, and cross-screen file transfers.
OriginOS 7 also integrates selected iCloud content into vivo File Manager, allowing supported photos and files to be browsed, uploaded, and downloaded directly from the phone.
More lock screen and home screen customization
OriginOS 7 adds several personalization features for the lock screen, home screen, and Always-On Display.
Wiggle Theme turns personal photos into interactive surfaces, while Glint Theme uses the phone’s gyroscope to create changing light and shadow effects as the device moves.
StickIt allows users to build layered compositions from photos and Live Photos across supported screens.
The OS also introduces Pet Pals, interactive companion themes that respond to device movement, charging, music playback, and the transition between day and night.

OriginOS 7 will be available on the vivo X500 Series, as well as new X Fold and V Series devices.
