GoTyme Bank Hit #1 Visa Debit Card Milestone in the Philippines
Visa has named GoTyme Bank as the top issuer of active Visa debit cards in the Philippines, marking a major milestone in the country’s fast-evolving digital payments landscape.
In a joint announcement dated February 19, Visa and GoTyme Bank confirmed that GoTyme Bank has reached the #1 position in the Visa debit card market, making it the most used Visa debit card in the country.
GoTyme Bank Surpasses 8 Million Debit Card Users
GoTyme Bank now reports more than 8 million Visa debit card users nationwide, backed by strong growth in active debit usage throughout 2025. According to the companies, GoTyme’s payment volume surged by over 150% year-on-year, significantly outpacing industry benchmarks.
Customer deposits have also crossed ₱43 billion, reflecting increased adoption of its debit products for everyday transactions. The milestone signals growing consumer preference for digital-first banking solutions as the Philippines accelerates toward cash-lite payments.
Recognized for Debit, Contactless Growth
Beyond securing the top position in active Visa debit cards, GoTyme Bank also received recognition from Visa for posting the highest debit payment volume growth, the highest active debit card growth, and the strongest contactless transaction growth among issuers in the country.
The bank was likewise among the first Philippine issuers to enable integration with Google Wallet and Google Pay, expanding tap-to-pay functionality for its cardholders locally and abroad.
Nate Clarke, President and CEO of GoTyme Bank, said the achievement reflects growing consumer trust in the bank’s approach to simplifying digital banking experiences. Visa Philippines Country Manager Jeffrey Navarro added that the partnership aligns with the government’s broader push for a digital-first, cash-lite economy.
Expanding Digital Payments Across Markets
The announcement builds on a multi-year, multi-market collaboration signed by Visa and GoTyme Bank at the Singapore FinTech Festival in November 2025. The agreement aims to accelerate digital payments innovation across emerging markets in Asia and Africa.
Under the partnership, Visa will continue supporting GoTyme Bank’s expansion through enhanced card issuance programs, marketing support, digital infrastructure development, and data-driven financial services.
From free on-the-spot Visa debit card issuance at nationwide kiosks to global lifestyle rewards and contactless payment enablement, both companies are positioning their collaboration as a key driver in the Philippines’ shift toward seamless, technology-enabled financial services.
